I am having a new Kohler sink, faucet and garbage disposal installed. How do I know whether to order the strainer with or without the tail pipe?

If it's hooking up to the garbage disposal, then you don't need the tail pipe. If it's not hooking up to the garbage disposal, then you need the pipe. We have a double sink ,so we have one side with the pipe and the other side doesn't have the pipe because it has the garbage disposal.
