Rust-Oleum Beige Scratch-Proof Floor Paint in Matt Finish - Longsands 2.5L

I decided to paint my wooden stairs as the cat kept ripping the carpet. I am so glad I did as the finish of this paint is incredible. I managed to do the stairs and my small landing area with one 2.5l tin and it covered much better than I thought it would. I ended up doing three coats as there were so many dark areas to cover, but two would be enough if the surface is more evenly coloured. I intend to put a runner down but I am really loving the feel of this paint under foot. It has a lovely smooth texture. It went on with a roller and a brush brilliantly. It doesn’t seem to get dirty and there are no signs of chipping or scratching. Very pleased with this. Well worth the money and a cheap, hygienic alternative to carpet.

I've had this paint on my stairs for 4 years and it's amazing. I use floor wipes to clean the paint from time to time but I wasn't expecting it to last 4 years between coats.

Husband is very pleased with this. We had originally used this brand's 'chalk' floor paint and, I thought I was buying the same product again but, I believe this is slightly different as is the chalk white colour - but that could be because the original has been down 2 years. This floor paint is matt/scratch proof. If I am honest, we have bought it because the original chalk floor pain had not worn very well, but rather than splash out on carpets just now, despite the cost of this paint, it was cheaper to touch up the floor boards.This product has gone down beautifully, far better than the chalk paint, it has covered well and leaves a lovely matte finish. (TBH, I hated the chalk finish, set my teeth on edge to walk on it or clean it).Cannot say whether this paint will wear any better than the chalk paint but Rust-Oleum are naming it as 'scratch proof' which they did not do with the chalk paint and that scratched even if you only looked at it!INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: To be fair to the old paint, which we just slapped down onto clean floorboards, this time we have waited until the room temperature was up to 10 degrees Centigrade as it will not adhere properly otherwise. Also, while the paint will be touch dry (apparently) within an hour and you can apply a second coat, you should NOT put furniture back on it or really walk on it for 7 DAYS to ensure it's hardness and durability.We will adhere to the manufacturer's advice and update if this paint scratches and marks like it's predecessor.If you are still looking for the original 'Chalk Floor Paint' in Chalk White - I'd suggest you stop looking and buy this product instead because it is so far, superior. Also, despite the 'Chalk White' colour being slightly different, it doesn't notice at all and we have not used it all over, just in main footfall areas, it blends in fine.

After a bit of research decided to go for this paint in Chalky White to paint a 60 year old pine staircase which had been sanded. The tin it arrives in is very heavy so a good indication that solids count is high, very easy to mix and very easy to brush or roll on, however there seems to be a certain amount of opaqueness to it as it not cover up lighter and darker sections of wood as well as i had expected and am now planning a 3rd and maybe even 4th. Traffic on the stairs between 1st and second coats point towards the paint being durable but you would need to watch out for shoes with black rubber soles i think as they can leave scuff marks. Overall very happy with this paint, if i had one thing i could change though it would be to add a little more "sheen" to it as it is really very very flat matt.

I needed 3 coats for my old wooden staircase but it was easy to apply, completely odourless (dogs happy), drying within 1.5 hrs, perfect white colour. Definitely will use this brand again.

Transformed our old wooden floor to a modern look which transformed our kitchen. Was super easy to use, went on well and dried v quickly. Wearing well, although scratches have appeared in places, but given the wear the floor gets, this isn't surprising.

Good quality floor paint. Really pleased with the finished on my bedroom floor.

Package arrived damaged, not to much of an issue, but I made contact via Amazon and notified there had been an issue. Currently have not received a response. Not sure I will buy again, will go back to Farrow and Ball!
