Datacolor: Spyder Checkr
The media could not be loaded. ๐ก๐ผ๐๐ฒ: I own both versions of 'Spyder Checkr' (photo & video), so I have done a review for each of them.If white balance is just off importance, either version will do the job by using the grey card. A must-have product of you're wanting to get a proper accurate white balance; this can be done before or after by either:Using your camera custom white balance setting and aiming at the grey card.Take a photo of the grey card and manually select the area in editing software then sync across the other photos. You can also use Datacolors own software for colour accuracy. If you're wanting to use this product to its full potential (colour correction), then you will need one of the following softwares:โข Adobe Lightroom Classic.โข Adobe Camera RAW.โข Hasseblad Phocus.Essentially what you do is take a photo of the colour palettes and use the SpyderCheckr software to create a calibrated pre-set for that image in the software's mentioned above; the software compatibility is clearly advertised, so don't be disappointed if you try using it with something else... Albeit an expensive reason, I mainly intended to use it for its grey card. You can get ones way cheaper than this on the market, however, I wanted one that has a hard protective shell and was compact to slip easily into my photography bag, hence why this is perfect (especially when comparing it to its larger Checkr 48 model). You can either use your camera's custom white balance mode and aim onto the grey card, or take a photo of it and use the WB pipette in post; either way works brilliantly.๐ง๐ต๐ฒ "๐ก๐ผ๐" ๐ฆ๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ:I get that the main reason for the high cost is due to the software side of it, however, it would have been nicer if they went for a metal shell (personal preference).

Perfect for color matching multiple cameras
Okay, let's get the main misconception out of the way first. These devices are NOT a 'super accurate grey card'; their use case is not white balance. It is to colour match images (and more importantly - video footage) when you are using multiple cameras. You *can* use this device as a grey card, but you will be paying well over the odds if you do!The use case of a Color swatch like this is to create a color correction that makes all your capture devices consistent to each other. If you love Canon Colour over Sony (or vice versa), then this is NOT the device for you as it will make both cameras produce the same colour. If you think making your mobile phone exhibit the same color as both your Canon and Sony DSLR is some kind of black magic, and/or you have trouble making slog video footage look anything like as vibrant as your stills photography, and/or you want your video footage taken inindoor and outdoor locations to look very similar, then this is a must have!Use-cases over. What does this look like? It's much like my previous one (a Calibrite ColorChecker Passport); a plastic case containing some accurate color swatches, for use in photography and videography to match the final colours to a calibrated standard. To be used as an initial stage in post to get all your footage from different hardware looking the same. NOT to be used in sunset scenes or other extreme lighting as the calibration will kill all that beautiful coloured ambient light! Is it worth it? For many professional photographers (and all videographers) its a must have. Remember that, as with most things photography, this is the start of a money pit; after calibrated camera images, a calibrated monitor screen comes next... and so it goes!

Updated 18% Grey panel
These Color CheckR Pro holder is very nice size for hand holding and quick use.The card inserts are a little loose to start with so care needs to be taken in use.I also have the older CheckR 48 which pairs with my Sekonic light meter for sensor calibration, this handy CheckR Pro uses an updated grey panel which has yet to be included in the light meter software.

Superior editing through calibration perfection.
Itโs small, compact, and will match your editing software perfectly. It seems a shame to spend all that money on camera equipment, editing software and hardware and not have your images/footage calibrated. This is an essential piece of kit for any photographer or videographer, too many times have I fallen victim to ordering prints, just to find that the colours I had on my screen, did not match the colours on the final print.Simply download the software with the link provided, register it, take reference shots and calibrate your RAW images, it doesnโt take long for it to become second nature as part of your process and there are 2 guides available to download, a quick start guide and a full fat version. It truly does revolutionise your work. I highly recommend.

Lightroom or Phocus needed
if you have not got Lightroom or Phocus do not bother with this. Hence only one star.

Datacolor SpyderCheckr
In the box warning card to tell you not to touch the colour swatches inside your wallet,You have the datacolor wallet which is made in a hard plastic, size is about that of 2 credit cards laying side by side. Lanyard to attach to your datacolor wallet and a link to download the software with serial number.Loading software and registration very easy, the wallet itself has full colour spectrum swatches plus grey scale cards inside. To get the full benefits from this very useful kit it would be wise to calibrate your screen.I love this its so compact and will fit nicely into the pocket of my camera bag.
