Good FRS radios
I like this set of FRS radios. I needed some for a tournament and my old ones had bad rechargeable batteries, it was a better choice to just get a new set rather then trying to source batteries and find the chargers. Being a three pack is an even better bonus. The first thing worth mentioning is, these are FRS radios. All FRS radios are capped off at the same wattage (.5 or 2 watts, depending on the channel) by the FCC, regardless of any claims the manufacturer makes about “distance”. All FRS radios operate the same. With that said, I did like the kit they came in. 3 radios, 3 batteries, 3 chargers and 3 headsets I haven’t actually used. The headsets look to use the standard “K” type headset connector that most headsets use, so you may be able to use a better type of headset than what’s included. The radios themselves appear to be solid and have the same features as the store-bought consumer name brands - DCS/CTCSS “privacy” tones, a selection of call tones, voice activated transmission, and the ability to pick up the NOAA weather channels. I like the channel scan feature - AND the ability to scan all privacy tones on a channel being used. Someone noted that they aren’t software-programmable but that just doesn’t seem practical, as simple as these are. Most users will just turn these on and talk. If you’re looking at more than just casual radio use, consider a GMRS radio. GMRS does require a license, but shares the same channels as these FRS radios but with more flexibility and transmission power. It’s important to note that on all FRS radios, channels 8-14 are low power channels and probably won’t have the transmit distance than the high power channels 1-7 and 15-22.I’ve put these side by side with MURS radios in some pretty tough spots and the distance these can transmit does impress me. In my suburban town full of blocks of houses, I can go just shy of a mile. A hill blocks reception. In very dense, heavy forest areas, I’ve gotten about 1/2 to 1.5 miles (MURS has consistently been better in areas like this, as to be expected). As to be expected, hills and other elevation changes quickly reduce the distance.Overall, a great radio set for basic two-way communication. I would prefer a USB-C type connector on the batteries for charging instead of a desktop cradle, as we are starting to see more with GMRS and other radios. The chargers use a USB-A type connector, instead of a 120v adapter, making it somewhat convenient to recharge in a vehicle or from a power pack without needing 120v power, but these don’t come with 120v to USB blocks. And being able to hand these out to friends and talk to them on my GMRS radio is convenient. Would definitely recommend and purchase again if needed.

Doal band, long lasting battery and easy to use. Good quality
Love the radios. Even the manufacturer is claiming that they can get signal long rage - never tested. But the max 1mile I was in the woods - worked perfectly. I love the dual band - this is making the life easy. Monitoring and using two channels at the same time is awesome. Kids on one channel - so I can monitor and adults on another. Is has extra encrypted channels that gives you privacy. Easy to use. Read the instructions book once. Long lasting battery - 3 days of usage with the hiking and never recharges. And comes with the cable for programming if needed. Definitely the best product for the price. And has the web site and support. Quality is also very good - rarely getting some strange signals or noise.

Bang for your buck!
Bought these to replace my aging Mototrola FR50s. The Baofeng BF-88ST's have about a mile longer range than my old Motorolas and alot more features.

No programming software, poor battery securing latch
These radios come with NO programming software from Baofeng and are not supported by CHIRP either because CHIRP needs to reverse-engineer the OEM software to add it in its support database. And no, there is no software from other Baofeng models that would communicate with these BF-88ST PRO.I do not intend every time I need to set or change CTCSS-DCS codes for 22 FRS channels to do it from the radio menu. No way.Additional, this radios have nothing to do with the quality of BF-888 or BF-888s or BF-88A or BF-88E. You immediately realize that when you get the radios in your hands. Also, the latch of the battery which secures the battery to the radio back is just a joke.Instead of having a spring loaded latch (like the ones on the BF-888, BF-888s, BF-88A/E) it has a latch which relies on the softness and elasticity of its plastic to "click" on the radio body.I don't want to know what shape that latch would have after 20 or 30 or 50 battery remove/attach cycles.Radios returned.

hands free VOX doesn't work very well
I bought them for hands free but the hands free is very poor. you need the mic right nest to your mouth but the mic is part of the cable making very hard to use. it looks and feels good sounds good but not for me

Great radios
These radios work great. I use them for my security company when working town events & can easily hear each other 1 mile away which I know that isn’t a lot but works great for our purposes as the area we cover is barley over a mile in distance. Been using them for the last 2 months without issues, will definitely buy a few extra ones.
