Exactly what I've been needing
After reviewing the Day 1 exercise, I can already see how this book will enhance my journaling/sketchbooking efforts with just that one exercise. I like the way the book is structured for each day with an exercise, a prompt, and an example from the author's own sketchbook. The font is large enough to read and the illustrations are plentiful and helpful. Since the sections are short, they don't go into great detail and I feel this book is not the best for true beginners who are looking for basic technique and instruction. The lettering section was quite short and could have used a reference of the entire alphabet in the style used by the author, rather than just the one word. However, I didn't buy the book for lettering, so that's just a minor nitpick. If you familiar with your art supplies and looking for inspiration or guidance on how to start your sketchbook habit, then I recommend this book for you.

Exactly what I needed!
I rarely write reviews for anything. With that being said, I felt compelled to show my support for this book. I have never had a sketchbook this varied in scope or this freeing. I have always been a person who got stuck in what to draw or paint or how to use a particular medium. This book tackled ALL of that in short, easy to digest examples. Pencil, pen, watercolor, gauche and acrylic are the main materials used and easy to find in my local big box art store.I enjoyed the step by step walkthroughs follwed by examples of other ways a project could possibly look. All of the projects build on each other in difficulty, so if you are a budding artist you could work straight through the book; OR you could just choose a project based on how much effort you can offer that day. Many thanks to the author, if you ever read this review. This book was a MAJOR confidence boost in building my artistic direction!

A Beautiful Start for Your Own Sketchbook Journal
A lovely layout for the perfect sketchbook. A layout for starting your own sketchbook journal. It is up to your world view. Your own perspective to fill your sketchbook pages. It is a good gift for any artist. I appreciate her clean and refreshing style. A lot of young artists publishing their books make it overly complicated. This has plenty of exercises to get you started or to help fight through artist block. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Returned
Nice quality book. Very wordy. It didn’t fit my needs, so I returned it.

Really aimed more for painting than sketching
I like this workbook to develop my drawing skills (little to none). It doesn’t focus on pencil or ink so much as it does watercolor paints, but I am still getting a lot out of it.I have learned recently that sketching can be with paints, however it was not what I had expected when reading about this book.

Just What Any Budding Artist Needs!
Ms. Minnie Small is truly a blessed and talented artist. This being her first follow-along book helps budding and seasoned artists who deal with fear of failing or perfectionism conquer those very debilitating demons in every way possible. Each exercise helps you learn the basics of shapes and colors and to, most of all, conquer that fear of the blank page. Minnie makes everything simple and easy to follow with her activities on each page and each level of difficulty can be easily adjusted for anyone to achieved what they are skilled to do. I, HIGHLY, recommend this book to anyone who wants to find and fall in to love with their art style!

Amazing book
As far as prompt type art books go, this book is phenomenal. There's so much explanatory material, and the techniques taught are great. Other prompt books leave too much to the whim of the artist's imagination. That's great, but for the less creative or motivated, all help is appreciated. It's easier on the brain. I was doing great until the architecture/urban, prospective page. That's hard without a teacher giving feedback. That just one day out of the month, but an indication, it's not all fun and games. It took me longer than a month, but I finished. I highly recommend it.

So fun to get some direction
I brought this on vacation and it was a great way to keep it simple and make art. Great directions, examples, and a nice opportunity to try different options (drawing, watercolor, lettering, etc).
