Great resource, wish the book was a little bigger
This is a fantastic book for learning a language after the reader becomes more proficient with how to pronounce various words etc. I honestly think it is a steal considering the low price point and the sheer amount of information provided. The addition of pictures is genius as it helps many people who are better at visually memorizing information and use mental pictures for memorizing information. What is great is that the book is organized in topics. So if you are trying to learn some of the language prior to travelling to Germany, you could study the "Eating Out" section to begin to understand what you may see on a menu and go over the vegetable and dessert sections and other important sections for travel (airport, hotel, drugstore etc). The book 5.5" x 6.5" x 1" (wide x height x depth). As I am getting older, it is harder for me to see small text and I wish this book came in a slightly larger variety with larger font. I would gladly pay extra for that and likely buy both. One for study and the smaller version for travel. So if you are like me with aging eyesight, be prepared to use your aggressive readers to see the font in this book. It is pretty small and the text size is too.Overall, I cannot recommend this book enough for learning vocabulary via brute force. It has all the words that you would need to know for everyday life. Learning it all is another matter, but it is available to you by topic. Every time I pick up the book and run through it, I learn a couple of words and I can still see the picture and the work in my mind. That is the value of this resource. You see what you are learning.

A must-have
I absolutely love this book. I have it in Spanish, Italian, and French too. It’s invaluable. Not just a dictionary of words. It has pictures too . . . And clear pronunciation for everything in the book. Siri is great - yayaya - but she often doesn’t quite get what you really want. This book does.

Really Good Way to Learn German
Had one of these as a kid to learn English and now with the same process but with German, it makes learning easy and applicable to everyday objects. Highly recommend

Fantastic learning aid
I lived in Germany for many years and upon moving home I am forgetting my vocabulary with every passing day, this dictionary has really helped me brush up, and to be honest, would have been incredibly helpful to have when I lived there. It covers just about everything and includes the gender assignment of the word (die, der). This would make an excellent gift for a student, ex-pat living there, military members living abroad, anyone who is a non-native German speaker. The book is small enough for travel. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Very good visual dictionary for those trying to learn such a complicated language
I find it very useful as a starter in the Deutsch language. I would also recommend to buy a full dictionary so you can compare different translations and synonyms, which is very important when learning Deutsch. A single definition will not be enough...

Best dictionary out there for learning words (not translating text, though)
If you want to learn words by category, this is the book for you. You could possibly use it for translation, but it is a bit cumbersome to flip through the pages to find the category you need. You might want to use tape flags to mark the sections.High quality images, printing, and translations. Because I learn faster with images and text together, I am so glad I bought this for my A1 German class.

Great find!
Great find! My son has recently taken up learning German, this book was a great find to add to his learning. He has it by his bedside and scans through pages each night, and wakes up telling us all sorts of new words he has learned.
