I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of this set! All the pieces are made of wood. The case is also wood, and the chess/checkers side is a printed laminate, not a sticker, and it's really very detailed and pretty, appearing like a 3-dimensional parquet top! I am really surprised how nice this is for the price. The hinges are placed properly where it lays smoothly and flat when open. The back of the cardboard packaging has well-written instructions for all 3 games, with proper spelling and grammar. This would make an excellent, classic but affordable gift for yourself or someone else!

We've bought this set many times as gifts and for our own family. It is a great, inexpensive gift and lots of fun.

My son bought this as his first Amazon purchase with birthday money. Love the value for money. Many fun games and it’s still in good shape. The bag has somewhat ripped by the zipper but the game itself is in good condition after a lot of play.

It's absolutely perfect, for the exception of on thing, that's where they lost the star. The whole thing is designed to be portable, with the pieces resting inside as you transport from one spot to the other. But they don't provide anything for them to rest in. You're just supposed to through them in even everything rubbing and scratching as you the thing gets moved about. It would cost pennies for them to provide felt pouches for the pieces; which is btw, what I did. But purchasing them separately ended up costing $7. I believe that for them, it would mean probably raising the price another $1-$2, simply by dealing in volume. Aside from that the pieces are excellent, the board is great and even the size of everything is spot on.

This was gift I sent to my son and grandaughter for Christmas, they both said it was a very nice set to learn on. I would buy it again.

The Chess Playing Board (which is the cover of the carry case) is like a photo copy of a Wooden Chess Board that is printed on vinyl adhesive then adhered onto the outer case....it looks good at first sight but the chess playing board will be worn off, nicked, scrathched and beat from just normal use very quickly... BUT! The Backgammon board inside is actualy painted or stained onto the wood(not sealed so it too tmúwill be subject to dust and dirt) it looks 100% better than the outer case! The Chess pieces are nicely carved, all are smoothly finished & sealed as well as the checker pieces all of them sealed & smoothly finished. However; I will be returning it....you get what you pay for, although I have seen better for less! Too bad -it would have been a keeper if not for the outer case being finished in vinyl adhesive....Its not a bad looking case but it feela cheap and I know how vinyl adhesive wears.
