Nice Hat
I ordered both this Stetson Men's Sturgis and the Cromwell in Medium for my husband's Christmas gift. The medium Sturgis fit my husband perfectly but the medium Cromwell was too big. I bought the Sturgis in Cordova color and the Cromwell in mink color, Mink is a tad darker and less orange than Cordova. The Cordova color is a warmer brown where the mink is darker brown, I liked both colors. I think the mink Cromwell is dressier and more sophisticated than the Cordova Sturgis. The Sturgis has more of a rustic western look. Both hat styles would look great with a wool church dress coat. I think the Sturgis would also look great with jeans or corduroy as it has a slight more casual look than the cromwell. We ended returning the Medium Cromwell as it was too loose, but we kept the Medium Sturgis which was a great fit. I think my husband wears a size 7 or 7.25. He keeps his hair very short. We would have kept both if they had both fit.

Authentic Stetson Style
My husband loves this hat - gets lots of compliments because it suits his outdoor plaid shirt country style even though we live on Cape Cod! Holds up In bad weather unless you soak it to death and don’t let it dry (which has happened a few times so this is hubbie’s 4th one). The fact that it’s made by Stetson in the USA is a plus. The only thing better would be one made from beaver which Stetson makes but is a lot more expensive! So, till then, this is a great hat.

I love this hat
When my last broad-brimmed felt hat (a Dorfman Pacific) finally wore out I went looking for a replacement. I settled on the Stetson Sturgis, even though it's overpriced compared to comparable DP hats. The first Sturgis that arrived was okay, but the felt was somewhat flimsy and it was a bit too large. After I wore it in the rain (that's why I own a broad-brimmed hat, because I hate umbrellas) I was careful to dry it on a flat surface. It shrank just enough to fit. Unfortunately it also developed a distinct groove that ran diagonally from one side of the brim, across the crown, to the other edge of the brim. I sent it back. The seller readily replaced it, but I did have to wait about 3 weeks for delivery the second time. When my new Sturgis finally came, it was perfect. Sturdy material, perfect fit, perfect color, rainproof, comfortable and warm. I still think it's quite pricey, but I do love the hat.

Oh Man what a hat!
Oh man what a hat. It is a perfect fit for my large head. I love this hat. It was boxed for a hat so it wouldn't lose shape. Go ahead and get one, you'll love it.

Hat bands break
I have two of these. Good hat except the plastic bands on both have broken. I have used a stapler to repair both. Sad the company does not provide a leather band for such an expensive hat. Even cheaper hat makers do that. If you don't have a stapler, probably best to avoid this hat.

Awesome hat!
Love this hat. The only negative I can find is that there are no vent holes on the top, so just keep in mind if you plan on using it in the heat. That said, it's really water repellent, and looks nice. Also, a lot of people seem to ask if it comes in a Stetson hat box. It does not, just comes in the Amazon box. Mine wasn't messed up at all when it got to me, like some people have said, but there is very little packaging. Anyway, it's a crushable so it should be fine even if it's a little dented up when it arrives.

After two Stetson bozemans that had some manufacturing errors and brim almost impossible to shape, I’m very happy with this one. Sturgis is almost identical to gallatin or bozeman with exception of more western style brim, sides sloping up like a taco and different hat band. The brim on sturgis has a stitched in cord that helps maintaining the original shape. The band looks and feel poor quality, not sure if its genuine leather. I instantly replaced it with proper ostrich leather hatband with silver buckle. Also inspect the back of stetson emblem if it’s secured in place, otherwise it can fall off. Now the important part - this hat is not waterproof or water resistant. Even a light rain will ruin it. The crown will shrink one size down, and it’s impossible to steam it back to its original size. You can perhaps try buying a hat block and blocking it but that’s more expensive than a new hat. If you wear a hat in rain, you need to buy rabbit or better beaver fur felt hat. Wool felt shrinks and is good only in dry weather. So when it rains, use the umbrella or roll it and put into the pocket, but don’t keep it crushed or rolled for longer than few hours. I’m telling you because I learned the hard way. One more thing to mention, modern wool stetsons are not of highest craftsmanship. Expect some small issues or buy fur felt stetsons which are superior for twice the price … or if you decide to trade the western look for better quality there are some finest British and Australian hats, which are far more superior in terms of craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality of felt. Some are even cheaper than stetsons. Final word - Stetson Sturgis is a nice hat, buy if you like the american western look, instead of the Australian outback. Keep it in dry, brush it, store crown down in hat box and it should last for years.

It's a nice hat, I get complements from it and feel good wearing it. But it doesn't shape well. It wends up looking more like a farmer hat than a cowboy hat because it won't respond to shaping.
