What I have craved since leaving Japan
While growing up in Japan, I regularly ate various noodle dishes with a soy soup base like this product. I have missed having Soba, but then I found this product. When you dilute this sauce with the prescribed amount of hot water, you get a delicious soup base for your noodles. It can also be used at different solutions for dipping sauces and other dishes. There are a number of similar products available. I like the flavor of this one. Also, some of the products call for being used full-strength or with less water, but have a similar price as this product. Check the labels to see how far the sauce will go. It makes a big difference in cost.

Different uses...
Originally bought this for a chinese soup base and it worked well. Recently, I had a few recipes that called for soy sauce which I had run out of, and I thought I may as well use this. I will no longer use soy sauce again. This is much more complex and lends well to more complex flavors in your dish. Try it...

Unique Approach
My wife, my brilliant Nippon Princess, who is, contrary to many (most?) American wives, both an excellent student (listener) and teacher (speaker)… AND… The OIC (Officer-in Charge) of our family diets and kitchens. “Vital facts (her perceptions+)” have taught me numerous, worthy, American lessons: 1) Only in America (she has resided in several other countries); are seniors predominantly viewed as less-worthy (unworthy?); often discarded, entities. In her native Japan, seniors are regarded as potential pearls of knowledge, experience, and “time-shaped…positively-eroded” expertise. Being “eroded” carries expectations of slower, more-thoughtful evaluation; with fewer expectations of immediate gratification. 2) Most women “love” DIFFERENTLY than men. “Most non-American women avoid actions that may end in ‘shame’.” Why? American divorce law mostly favors the wife ((child custody (leverage)); alcoholism; morbid obesity; child abuse (especially mental)… teaching hatred of their father; lying, poisoning perceptions, et al. And NOW you’re wondering… “Why is this 80-year old “sharing” this message here?” To “rant” with other ranters, is a waste of time… at least here, interested parties might promulgate information of perceived value.

Best soup base
Absolutely love this for a simple udon soup! It also makes a great tempura sauce or a dipping sauce base for dumplings! This is my second time buying it and I plan to buy more when I run out.

Tasty
It's almost impossible to find things like this here unless you're willing to drive 50-90 miles to a larger city so this is a good value for me. The flavor is a little sweet for me but its still pretty good.

Tasty and Convenient
I really like its taste. I feel I've suddenly become a professional cook after using it. And if you like the taste of smoked fish or seafood overall, you are likely to like this soup's flavor as well. And after using it for several times, I found that it's not only useful as a soup base, but I can also add it in preparing other dishes as well, such as fried rice or any fish steak. It would just add this nice seafood taste to whatever dishes.

Wonderful for Somen, Ramen, Dipping etc - be sure to dilute
I Love to make homemade Mandu and Potstickers. I also make Somen and Ramen often. This is a lower sodium way to create the broth. This particular version is fish based, but not really "fishy" tasting. It is not spicy (thus the 1 star for warmth) and it is a wonderfully liquid consistency (so not thick - which I REALLY like) regardless of dilution. For Dipping sauce I DO dilute it a little and add sesame seeds- and for those that like it a little saltier, I add in a touch of Soy Sauce and/or Sesame Oil. Wonderful product! Makes me feel like being back in Asia.

Very good
I use this in place of soy sauce and seasoning. I don’t really know how to cook with soy sauce and this solves the problem.
