Brother SQ9285 Computerized Sewing and Quilting Machine with Wide Table, Certified Refurbished

This is coming from someone that has used the same old White sewing machine for 30 years (I believe). That one finally died and this is the one that had the features I needed and that I could afford. I am 100% satisfied with this. So quiet (in comparison for sure), very easy to change stitch, very easy.

Does everything we need done.We use it 5 days a week.The last one last 4 years.

The Brother SQ9285 is strong and smooth. The stitches are nice and neat. I took one star because it’s missing the pedal.

I had purchased this machine based on the reviews and based on the features and yeah, was I disappointed. I recently purchased a Janome Loft 100 for work which I love, but was lured by the features and price point that Brother was offering. Upon opening the box and taking out the machine I was instantly disappointed in the build quality. The machine was light and for the most part all plastic. I set up the machine and started working on a project and couldn’t get past the thumping and slowness of the machine and just the overall feed of fabric. I returned the machine and got another Janome Loft, a $449.00 machine for 279. From a local mom and pop on sale. I will say the light on The brother was brighter than my Janome but nothing a book light couldn’t fix. I wanted to like this machine but It just wasn’t close to the Janome and for 50.00 more I know my Janome will be around for 30 years or more.
