National Geographic Infographics (Multilingual Edition)

Fantastic book, and it's huge! I just received my copy late last week, so I haven't read through this cover-to-cover yet, but I'm very pleased so far. This book is much larger than I had expected at about 10" x 15", making it almost double the size of the magazine. I think this would make a great gift for anyone who is interested in information design, graphic design, or enthusiastic about National Geographic. As a design nerd, it's interesting to see the evolution of design style over time, and see a variety of ways to convey information visually. Being so large and a hardcover, the book is rather hefty. I'd be interested in picking up a second copy in softcover, if it were a bit smaller. I think it would make for a very handy reference book for anyone who works in design.

Wow! It is one hefty book! Almost 500 pages of National Geographic's collection of posters and maps from their magazines spanning 100+ years of information. Bought it for myself because I enjoyed reading National Geographic magazines as a teenager and even now in my early 30s I still enjoy looking at the graphics/ artwork in these magazines. It makes a great coffee table book at the same time learning and relearning things one could benefit from. It came in this box saying it's heavy and it sure is, I wanna say around 10-ish lbs. I open the box and immediately I see this giant book wrapped and undamaged. Taschen did the publishing and I must say they knocked it out the park, the dustcover itself has a very high quality feel to it with the paper they used and then you open the pages it's the same high quality feel it's not your ordinary book as it is presented in 3 languages inside (English, German, and French). You will not be disappointed with this book as it makes a perfect gift for any occasion to anyone who loves books and information graphics.

HUGE book! Great price! What's not to like? I grew up with my parent's National Geographic magazines and always loved their infographics. The attention to detail is amazing. This is a very large and heavy book----probably not suitable for bedtime reading unless you are wanting a work out at the same time. :) But otherwise, a wonderful addition to the family library.

Though expensive this book is a rare explosion of brilliantly conceived information in a book that you will want to read and look at over and over again. It is a piece of art and reference for learning and knowing. I hope it is the beginning of a way to communicate important facts and understandings for publications yet to come.

My husband who is a graphic designer LOVED this gift. My brother who does the same type of work was so jealous as xmas when he opened it! My husband said this was the most thoughtful gift I have ever given him. Who knew?!

In my heart of hearts, I was hoping for one foldout! Dang, how I love those!!!!

This has quickly become one of my all time favorite coffee table books. HUGE, informative, and SO MUCH fun to read

I have preordered this after hearing about it on the radio for my Dad. Just gave it to him yesterday and it is so cool! My 6 year old son is so excited to read it with him. They loved it! It is tall and thick- so much heavier than I thought but it is a perfect size for the info graphics!!

This is simply an amazing book! It covers just about everything in the natural and human world. The illustrations are superb and well thought out and the explanatory text is kept relevant and minimal. You just want to keep dipping into it. Be warned, however, this is not a book for reading in bed or taking on the train, and some coffee tables might struggle under its weight - check out the size before you buy. All of the text accompanying the illustrations is in English, but the explanatory text blocks are in French and German too.

An amazing book to have on your coffee table and to keep for ever. Very interesting themes and very diverse. Whenever someone comes home, he or she's going to look at it.

An exhaustive collection of some of the best infographics of NatGeo. A beautiful collection of visual stories. Books like these have a special place in this day & age of PDFs and digitization.

... ein ziemliches Schwergewicht. Sowohl in Größe und Gewicht als auch inhaltlich kommt es recht selbstbewusst daher. Aber die Darstellung der außergewöhnlichen Infografiken wäre in sparsamerer Ausführung vermutlich sinnlos. Das Buch hat in jedem Fall eine Art Magnetwirkung auf Kinder und Erwachsene. Es an einem Stück durchzusehen, dürfte schwierig werden, denn jede einzelne Grafik ist faszinierend genug, um lange Zeit studiert zu werden. Sehr empfehlenswert!
