I bought this, not for it's outstanding UV protection, but as a safety for the camera. I doubt that spending 100s more for a top end filter was going to improve the quality of the lens or pictures. That said, it fit the lens well and seems to be doing its job. If you are looking for a UV lens for a high-end camera lens for high-end photography, this might not be the quality you want. For my purposes it's a fair value, good quality lens. No complaints.

As most of you are aware of the widespread controversy of whether to use UV filters on camera lenses. I’m from the old school of thought that the UV filter is the first line of defense against scratches and damage to the front of an expensive camera lens. Recently, I’ve seen a shift towards the idea that the lens hood should do this task. While the hood does provide protection when it’s in place, there are certain times when I don’t use a lens hood and by not having it installed, I lose my protection level. Now having said the fact that the UV filter protects the lens front, it’s also a requirement to ensure that the chosen filter is a top quality and doesn’t introduce any negative effects such as color cast, image quality degradation, and the likes. Before I invested a lot of money in buying UV filters for all my lenses, I did some research on the different advertised qualities of filters. After deliberating on the data that I found on the Internet, I decided to give these filters a try. I bought a couple sizes to test with. Please note that all the testing and observed results described were done in a real world environment and no scientific instruments or processes were employed. I simply compared filter use to non-filter use looking at the results towards the aspect of interest. All the results were subjective based on my experience and derived from my opinion. I ran them through a battery of tests. First, I checked them for build quality, ensuring that they screwed on and off smoothly and easily with no appearance of locking up or cross threading, analyzed the claimed effects of the multi-layer coatings to aspects such as shedding of water and the ease of fingerprint removal. I found everything appeared to meet the advertised capabilities. Once the physical aspects were determined to be satisfactory, I turned my attention to the image quality effects. I checked them in various levels of light, looking at the effect of reducing UV hazing (not hard since I’m at in the Mojave Desert and we have very high UV levels year round), for introduction of flaring, ghosting, and other nefarious effects. The UV hazing effect was reduced bringing more definition to distant features of the landscape, which is the subject of my main genre of photography. I did not see any ghosting and any level of flaring was attributable to the lens itself. I also did not notice any focusing issues related to filter use nor did I see any image quality degradation while using the filter. There was no detectable color cast seen. All in all, I found these UV filters provided an acceptable first level protection for my lenses without introducing any negative impacts to the resultant images created while using the filters. Based on my personal experience using these UV filters, if you are a mindset to employ UV filters then I would recommend you investigate these for your needs. If you are of the ‘UV NEVER’ mindset, then this review probably gave you plenty to disagree with 😜 but to each, his or her (or whatever pronoun(s) you use) own.

This UV filter fits as expected and appears to be distortion free. It’s on the lens for protection from accidental damage that I hope never occurs! The price was reasonable.

Recently purchased 3 new lenses all 77mm. For the lens I will use the most I bought a B&W 007 MRC, then a tried a Urth 30L for another lens, and for lens I anticipate I will use less often a Neewer Nano HD. The B&W seems to be the most clear with very controlled reflections, next best to me was this Neewer, filter, so clear and neutral and so close to the B&W I wouldn't hesitate to get more for any lens I get. Impressive piece of glass.

I bought filters after damaging a lens when it fell out of my camera bag. Afterwards I put filters on every lens I own. Since adding filters to lenses, I have cracked filters but never another lens. The filters protect the filter ring on the lens from bending but don’t change picture quality. Replacing a filter costs much less then repairing or replacing a lens.

I think this is better than the original one I had that ended up shattering from dropping my camera 2 feet in a padded bag... with the lens cap on. I couldn't understand what caused the shattered lens, so I replaced it with this one. Neewer is a known brand, and it does what it's supposed to do (I think) which is filter UV.

I bought this filter to protect a new lens for my Nikon. For years I used Tiffen and other well known filters but decided to try NEEWER because I have been impressed with the quality of their products for photography in the past couple of years. This filter is amazing. No fog on the lens despite being in below zero weather and on a beach there was not the oily residue I always deal with. Great make too. Nice construction. Keep going NEEWER!

It makes sense to protect the front element of your expensive lens that can cost from several hundred to several thousands of pounds, but it does not make sense if your "sacrificial filter" is of such poor quality as to degrade the images you take. With this in mind I have looked for a sweet spot of cost versus performance, and I think this filter from Neewer fits the bill. Is is a metal and glass construction with multiple costings to reduce flare and ghosting. I saw no ghosting and minimal flare shooting straight into the sun with this filter. No unwanted artefacts are introduced with no loss of contract, and no colour casts. It is not a cheap filter by any means but the balance between cost and performance is perfect.

Me he comprado una lente muy cara y estaba siempre preocupado que se me salpique algo de comida en la lente ya que hago vídeos promocionales para restaurantes y grabo la preparación de la comida. Ya me salpicó varias veces en mi otra lente y con el tiempo de limpiar la lente se te queda Micro arañazos en el cristal. Con este filtro ya puedo trabajar tranquilamente y así conservo mi lente.

Dieses Produkt habe ich als kostenloses Testmuster im Rahmen des Vine-Programmes erhalten. Vielen Dank. UV-Filter werden heute hauptsächlich zum Schutz der Frontlinse eingesetzt. Standardmäßig benutze ich keine Schutzfilter. Ich setze stets die Sonnenblende auf und gehe mit meinen Objektiven achtsam um. Aber es gibt Situationen, wo ein Schutzfilter wertvoll ist - Regen, Staub, schmutzige Umgebung, oder wenn man Kamera in andere Hände gibt. Den Neewer-UV-Filter habe ich in der Größe 77 mm mit meinem Fujinon XF 16-55 mm f/2,8 getestet. Dazu habe ich Situationen mit Gegenlicht gewählt. Den Weißabgleich habe ich während des Testens konstant gehalten, ebenso wie die Belichtungsparameter. Für die Aufnahmen habe ich natürlich ein Stativ benutzt sowie ES und Kabelauslöser. Als Schlussfolgerung kann ich sagen, dass dieser Filter hervorragend performt. Es gibt nahezu keinen zusätzlichen Flare. Ich kann mit meinen Tests, die natürlich keine Labortests sind, aber real-life-Szenen, keine Beeinträchtigung der Bildqualität erkennen. Vielleicht gibt es ganz wenig zusätzlichen Flare, aber wenn, dann ist er so minimal, dass er wirklich nicht stört. Genauer kann ich es nicht sagen, weil die Sonne zwischen den Aufnahmen ein wenig wandert und sich die Lichtverhältnisse "im Feld" dadurch minimal ändern. Ich hänge zur Illustration drei meiner "Test-Paare" an. Das ist für den Filter eine top Leistung. Der Filter kommt in einer praktischen Box mit Mulden für die Finger, so dass man ihn problemlos entnehmen kann, ohne Fingerabdrücke zu hinterlassen. Er trägt nur ca. 3,2 mm auf (gemessen). Tiptop. Volle fünf Sterne.
