The I Ching: The Book of Answers New Revised Edition

My experiences (and thoughts about the Wu Wei interpretation)
My practice for the past several years has been to consult the I Ching only when an important decision or problem has been weighing heavily on my mind for a day or so and I'm just not sure what to do. I'll go to the I Ching with a situation like this maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I believe this is a respectable way to use the oracle, and it has been very effective for me. To date, every answer that I have received has been uncannily specific to my question and has shown to be absolutely correct in judgment. It's a little scary to me when I see how well it works...it surprises me every time I do it.I use the yarrow stick method, using sticks that I fashioned from bamboo skewers and keep in a nice wooden "pick up sticks" box, but in a pinch I have used other things like a computer program or even coffee stirrers (if I am at work and can't wait to get home!) I know there are statistical limitations with the yarrow stick method, but I like it because it allows me to focus my thoughts for a longer period of time as I perform the divination. Many years ago when I first learned about the I Ching, I used the Wilhelm interpretation, which always seemed to leave me with more questions and more confusion than I had before I started. I was never sure if I was interpreting it correctly and I was always afraid that my interpretations might be biased by my inner personal desires. Because of that uncertainty, I ended my experimentation with the I Ching until I found the Wu Wei version many years later.I suspect that some "purists" will scoff at the Wu Wei text. I know that the author "Wu Wei" is none other than Chris Prentiss, author of "The Alcohol and Addiction Cure" and other self-help books as well as being the CEO of "Passages" addiction treatment centers. I will admit that the "Wu Wei" pen name troubles me, but putting that aside, I find his version to be so easy to interpret and so meaningful and helpful in my practice that I am willing to set aside any concerns about how or why Chris Prentiss put together this interpretation and just take it at face value. All I know is that it works for me and I will continue to use it as long as it does. I am open to working with other interpretations, but right now I just don't have a lot of time to devote to studying them.My two cents: if you are an I Ching newbie, and are having trouble interpreting the trigrams you might want to give this version a try.BTW I am not affiliated with Chris Prentiss in any way, and I've actually been careful -not- to research him because I don't want to associate him with the text at all and I especially do not want to form any negative connotations that will ruin its effectiveness for me.

I highly recommend the Iching
I have used the ICHING and this book for a number of years. It helped me avoid bad choices in life.It is very accurate for me. But I can only speak for myself. Don't take my word for it, buy this book and use it with sincerity and let it come teach or guide you. Only believe your own experience not what you read on book reviews. If you buy it and it doesn't work for you, toss it away. It has worked that's why I'm writing this review. You have to understand that this book is about potentiality and circumstances are always changing so you still need to rely on your own decision making, and only use it as a guide. This book is highly recommended. It helped me avoid a number of bad situations, In retrospect I know when I avoided heading the advice given to me by Iching I end up in a worse situation.

It is good practice to always verify your Kua pattern when consulting ...
The comment made by Jane Day (February 5, 2016) concerning the Location Chart on page 403 is correct in that the page numbers for the trigram "Li" are in error. But ONLY the page numbers, the Kua (Hexagram numbers) are correct. The number for each of the Kua/Hexagrams (1-64) are shown at the top of each page in the book. It is good practice to always verify your Kua pattern when consulting the I Ching. An error in the page number on the Location Chart is no reason to disregard the book as a whole.

Excellent American version of the I Ching
I have had other translations of the I Ching, going back to my hippie days (now 35+ years ago). I never "got" it before. The instructions and overview sections are crystal-clear. I bought the yarrow stalks as recommended (it's slightly cheaper to buy the book + yarrow stalks separately then to buy the "gift" set). I used the yarrow stalk method as instructed. I have asked 2 questions so far, and I have to say the correspondance between the "answers" and my questions and subsequent actions is 100%. I will continue to consult it. I am thankful to Wu Wei (Chris Prentiss who also does praiseworthy work with addiction) for his efforts here. I guess his son Pax helped with the translations too, so I am thankful to him as well.

''The i-ching''
''The i-ching''Wu Wei's book of answers Is a very explicit, practical and quick guide to consult at any moment. Wu Wei has compelled a new explanation of the deep wisdom of Fu Xsi's apocalyptical inspiration of the ''i-ching'' that is quite easy for westerners readers and seekers of Light in the darkness of this Samsara world.A great companion indeed that offers the possibility to resolve or avoid any problems of every day life. Thanks Wu Wei !Aina

Not what I expected
It was more on how to actually practice with sticks, less info, was expecting to learn more / get more info on universal laws or answers I guess
