Q: Do you have to change batteries frequently? My large one works but eats batteries.

Nothing abnormal. In fact, I don't think I changed the batteries. I used it occasionally on one of my foster dogs for a short time.

Q: The 'egg really worked for our dog. So we loaned it to a nextdoor neighbor who wanted to try it. Could it be reaching our dog?

It is only effective for 20 feet of open space. It will barely go through a wall if you are lucky. If your dog is hearing it, it likely isnt uncomfortable. But I suppose you could conduct a test by synchronizing your cell phone times and having your neighbor activate it at a certain time.

I can’t tell you if it would help but what I can tell you is I have tried it on my three dogs. I bought it hoping I could correct my Boston terrier from jumping on my little dogs and she paid no attention at all to it. I also wanted my yorkie to quit barking and she paid no attention to it. My tiny chihuahua who is very good and when I tried to correct the other two it scared her to death. She ran and hid.

Q: How is this small device different than the full size one?

Great question. This one works by pushing the button. You point it at the dog and push. Its great for training, because you can supplement with commands. The large one is automatic, and technically has a longer range, but because it needs to be precisely positioned, is a bit harder to use. The big one is good for if the dog has a certain spot he usually barks, and you can try different settings to have it automatically activate and emit the ultrasonic sound at the desired time. For instance at the front door, or a particular spot in the backyard. But it needs to be dialed in so it only activates when there is barking. Otherwise, it will not work.
