Original TomTom suction cup fell apart. This replacement is actually better.

Living in Florida the suction cups give get weak with the hot sun on most of these mounts, so far so good. I noticed that the ball slides in snugly but once it is seated completely in it could be a little on the loose side for some but in my situation it will work just fine

This replacd the ball pivot mount on my TomTom GPS unit which had broken (someone in the family decided to relocate the original mount and did not release the suction device and just pried the unit off the windshield. The replacement is slightly shorter and does not have the reach of the original unit so I cannot mount it as low on my windshield. The ball on the mount is 16.6 mm diameter whereas the TomTom unit ball is 17mm diameter, which allows the TomTom GPS unit to flop around on the repcement mount even with the lock nut fully tightened. I resolved this problem by taking a 25mm diameter piece of the flexible plastic wrap the unit was sealed in and wrapped it around the ball then inserted the ball with this jerry rigged spacer into the socket then tightened down the lock nut. Prior reviews pointed out that on earlier units the suction cup did not hold well. The manufacturer remmedied this by applying to the suction cup a 2mm thick layer of flexble adhesive with a peal off plastic barrier that must be removed before placing the mount to the inside of the cleaned windshield. The problem is the adhesive sets firm in 24 hours and the suction cup cannot be relocated. I got a rock chip in my windshield that quickly expanded into a spider web crack and I will have to replace my windshield and my GPS mount! Additionally, the mechanism too make the suction cup retract and apply suction to the windshield has locking tabs that are difficult to release when the GPS mount is placed low on the dash to prevent the GPS unit from being in the line of sight of the road. Unfortunately, this mount was not adequately field tested before being released. I would return it but it is GLUED to my windshield. But hey, I now have to replace my windshield, so I will just get an original manufacturer TomTom GPS mount.

This does not fix the Tom Tom 620 navigator

It may be the only 16 mm replacement suction base that fits the TomTom GPS clip. The only other option is the expensive TomTom replacement base. The problem is that the ball is either slightly too small or too slick. The original ball is textured and has twelve small holes, which may provide better grip. The result is that while this base holds the magnetic clip it does not grip it firmly. The GPS is free to flop around. This means that the the GPS can't be hung from the windshield but rather must be mounted to a horizontal surface like the the dash.

stopped working after 5 months. Washed it many times and the suction does not hold up

Did not work as a replacement for my original failed tom tom mount.

WORKED WELL

The original windshield suction cup wore out. I was so disappointed when I received the replacement I ordered and it was too loose. I sent it back and took a chance on this one. Best decision ever! I like it better than the original. I highly recommend!
