I bought a $100 DXE footswitch (all metal, which was nice) but realized I could get away with something much cheaper, because you're not paying for anything more than name brand and maybe the metal case at that point - it's a simple open or closed circuit, that's it. Enter this footswitch (which has an interesting name brand, HQRP, I guess they're low power?!) and it works absolutely perfectly. I've paired this with a Yaesu FT-710 and my Heil Pro 7 headset - plug the footswitch into the adapter for your radio and set the selector switch to the "PS. 10" setting, which I guess is "normally open". Would be nice if that was labeled, but it takes all of a few seconds to figure out. It isn't metal, but it does feel substantial and has a nice weight to it. I'm operating in my carpeted office so I have no concerns about the pedal moving, and I'm not mashing it like a musician might. The cable is 5 feet long and is a nice, thick cable with a soft-touch rubber coating - it doesn't tangle or curl on itself (doesn't have "memory") which is what one would expect from instrument cables. The only possible improvement I can think of is if it featured another 1/4" jack on the pedal itself, which would allow someone to swap out the cables for maybe a guitar amplifier cable with a 90 degree head or maybe a cable that is longer, if needed. But as-is, this product is perfect and I'm very happy to have saved $80+ in purchasing this and returning the other one. 73!
