Can I purchase extra gel packs for this ?

Any flat ice packs will work. They may not be the exact width but I just put two of them in side by side. Works great!

How big does the knee brace go?

It is not very big. I think it is undersized for larger people. My thigh is 19" and the small side will not fit properly. I just barely connects and It fell off and I used the small size on my thigh. I then reversed it and found out about the fact that one strap side is smaller than the other. Not sure why and why they made the straps so short. It should have been made with longer straps.

Want something contured so it does not push down hard on my knee replacement will this work ?

Yes, this will work. It wraps around the knee and you determine how tight you want it. Because the straps are long enough, you can adjust it to your comfort.
