Is it normal for the button control to get heated?

I was disappointed, this product only performed few hours and left the Diwali festival bland. Had to return it and buy normal lights. Amazon just fulfils the demand with least care for quality

12V 2A adapter gets over heated quickly and turns on and off every 2-3 seconds. Which adapter should i buy instead ? 9V 1A or some other ?
