Great for marking metal
This has been great for marking on metal. The thinness makes it much easier to be precise and it works on rusty metal, too, unlike a pencil. It isn't the best for fresh metal with a thick coat of oil or for painted metal, but I keep a pencil and thin sharpie around for the few times that this doesn't work so well. As long as I don't drop the box, this will be a lifetime supply for me since I've only used 4 pieces in two years and 1 was from dropping it at least ten feet onto the concrete. Also, the seller sent me two additional holders because they shipped it out a day late!

Waste of money
I can’t even get the soapstone loaded in the holder, breaks every time. It’s not worth the hassle.

Well I really like these holders more than the thicker ones that I've used for years fits in my pocket better finer line and I love that its brass, I just ordered two more just in case

soap stone
The thin soap stone breaks very easy. Some of the stone is not solid in that it has flaws in it making it easier to break. You have to be very careful in adjusting the holder to prevent cracking when in use. Over all it is a good idea and saves time in sharping the standard soap stone.

I've never owned this thin type soapstone and holder so ...
I've never owned this thin type soapstone and holder so I can't figure out exactly how to adjust the tensioner. I have a tendency to break them when loading the holder.
