I ordered 2 and have no issue with how the loops are secured. They are swaged/crimped with an aluminum cable sleeve. No different from any other cable loop.

Q: what is diameter of the loop?

It looks to be a little more than an inch, but I didn't measure it. It is wide enough for me to overlap the two loops at each end and use a puck lock to secure them together. Hope this helps.
