What makes this DayClox memory loss digital calendar day cycle clock so unique is that both the day and the month are fully spelled out, along with the cycle of the day! Many elders suffering from memory loss due to stroke, dementia, Alzheimer's or just advancing years, may have difficulty processing abbreviated words. Most clocks available today will abbreviate the month & the day. For example, November becomes Nov & February is Feb. The same is true for days of the week - Wednesday, is often displayed as Wed & Saturday as sat. This may be fine for the rest of the population, but for our loved ones with dementia, early stages Alzheimer's or just simple advancing years, these abbreviations are often too confusing to process. This day clock displays complete words only, no abbreviations. This clock bold and clear display is a great for elderly or vision impaired. This quiet reminder clock or 8" digital calendar day clock has the clearest & easiest to read display available. This clock has everything! It displays the full day, cycle of the day, time & date and it's not just for people with memory loss or as a dementia aid. Anyone can enjoy this wonderful clock. It makes a great gift. It's sleek & contemporary design will look great anywhere in your home or office, sitting on your desk or counter or wall mounted for everyone to enjoy. The dementia clock can be viewed as a dementia aid, dementia product or even an Alzheimer's product. It assists dementia patients or early state Alzheimer's patients. This day clock is a self-help tool for people who get confused with abbreviations & with am & pm notations. With no confusing abbreviations. Many seniors suffering from memory loss due to dementia, stroke, Alzheimer's or just advancing years, often have difficulty processing abbreviated words. The preset cycle’s times are: Morning 6:00 am - 11:59 am / afternoon 12:00 noon - 4:59 pm / evening 5:00pm - 8:59 pm / night 9:00pm - 11:59 pm / before dawn 12:00 midnight - 5:59 am.

So grateful these clocks exist! Thank you!
I bought four of these for our house. We're taking care of my 85 year old Dad at home who has some dementia, and one of the things he is constantly asking and wanting to know is what time it is and what day and date. These clocks are terrific. First, the clarity of the clock text is perfect, whether its day or night. It's easy to see even from a distance. The differentiation between the stages of day (morning, afternoon, evening, night, and before dawn) helps Dad get his barings. The words actually help him understand when he should be up and when he should go back to bed. Prior to having these clocks, Dad would come wake me up and ask me what time it was, even though he had a clock by his bed. It's not so much the time he was looking for but validation as to what those numbers meant in the overall scheme of the night. The only thing I wish was included was an alarm feature. These clocks have no alarm feature, but they had the upgraded text and that was more important at the moment. The text didn't used to show "Before Dawn," and adjusting the length of morning time didn't keep the right day with the right date. So, this was an improvement in that regard, and when an alarm feature is added, that would make it idea. The 5 stars is because Dad has come to rely on these and loves them. It's like having an assistant here to answer his most common questions -- what time is it; what day is it

Excellent Clock
I purchased the original clock 7 years ago. It was so popular with family, I just bought another (updated) one for another room. Attractive, easy to read, and keeps perfect time. I can highly recommend these clocks for anyone who needs a bit more in terms of visibility and/or reminders. May seem a bit pricy but it has certainly paid for itself all these years later.

Read the measurements
Not what I expected. Read the measurements wrong. Totally not worth the money.

Good option for cognitive disorders
We have been looking for a clock to help my father keep track of days of the week. I was initially concerned that the clock was too small to be easily seen. I was very pleased to see that it has a bright and very clear display that can easily be read across the room. The addition of the time of day (morning, evening, etc.) is also a nice touch. The clock uses an ac adapter with moderate sized plug which may present a problem. The length of the cord was adequate, though we needed a extension to reach an outlet from where we needed to place the clock. There may be some concerns with the cord running down the wall from the clock, but it does eliminate any concern about battery replacement. It does have a battery backup tot retain the time and date information if there is a power failure.

DayClox
I ordered DayClox for my friend who has memory loss and it has totally changed her life and mine. Before DayClox I would receive between 5-8 calls a day asking what day it was and where she was suppose to go that day. With DayClox sitting on her kitchen table next to a large calendar she always knows what month, day and time it is.We filled in her calendar with her weekly events and now it's easy for her to look at her DayClox at the date then checking her calendar to see what she needs to do that day. She loves it. Highly recommended for people with moderate memory loss.

We got one for my 85 year old mother, but we liked it so much, we got one for us too!
My mother is almost 85 and she loves this clock. It's so cute when we are sitting at her dining table, she will look over at the clock (which is a good 20 feet away) and tell me what day it is. lol. I got this clock for her because in the past 2 months she had called me thinking it was morning time and in fact it was night time. With this clock she knows at all time what part of the day it is. My husband also liked this clock so much, that we got one too. When he wakes up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water, he can easily see the time, plus it works great as a night light too!

Great product, worth its weight in gold!
Great product. I bought this for my parents who are in their 90's & most days have no idea what day is let alone the date or time. I gave it to them for Christmas & they love it already. I have it hung right on the wall where there old traditional clock was & they look at it all the time. My dad reports that he has been able to get my mom to go back to bed when he points out that the display says, "Before dawn" when its before 5am! This is worth every penny just for that feature because to her the word "morning" always meant, "ok to get up" whereas "before dawn" means "go back to bed!" I'm so happy I found this!

Great visual for persons with dementia and memory issues
Especially like the word descriptions for time of day (“afternoon” “evening”, etc) because “am” “pm” alone may be difficult to see or understand
