Cute but expensive
These little mermaids are cute, they are good quality mini toys and as you would expect from the Barbie range. All that said, they are way too expensive for what you get. The surprise element is good, nice toys, but overall as a purchase it’s not great value for money and something you could expect to get in budget shop surprise eggs or something similar.

Simple & fun way to get a new Chelsea or friend.
These arrive in a handy clear plastic jar with a bright pink screw top lid which we will be using to store the tiny odds & ends that often come with Barbie & her family so that was an unexpected bonus. There is a small pink hanger on the lid (I guess for hanging on a shop display), if you fold it down it will close the small hole in the lid. That doesn't make it waterproof though, so don't shake the jar when there is water in it.The water after removing the colour reveal design rinsed out easily & didn't stain the jar at all, so it has now been repurposed - which also means less waste to dispose of.Before become a useful Barbie storage container, we first had to find out what the surprise was.Only one of the bags (the one with the doll in) needed to be placed in warm water, the others were just surprise bags to open. After filling the container with warm water (I just used hot water from the tap in the kitchen) you lower in your doll & swirl it about a bit.I had the Club Chelsea boy & he needed his head submerging too as he had a darker covering over his mid brown curly hair.Swirling turned the water into a dense pink cloud & when removed our little guy had a smart teal waistcoat, white sleeveless top & red bow tie.He also sports a fetching pair of white y fronts with a blue trim. These are painted onto the body but you could easily change up his look by putting a different top over the printed one as long as it had a pretty high neck.He also had a pair of sparkly/shiny spotty trousers, red boots, a golden crown (which has a gap at the back so you can gently push it down on his head for a secure fit) & a hard blue heart shaped balloon on a stick. The crown will fit other Chelsea Club members but is too small for Barbie to steal. The actual colour reveal activity is very short lived, but the play value continues on as you now have the doll to play with.Enjoyable, simple activity with long term play value because of the doll & a free storage jar included.I'll be buying more in this series.

The Packaging Tube May Have Diminished In Size... But The Unboxing Fun Certainly Hasn't
My kids have had the full size Barbie colour reveal dolls before and absolutely loved them. This time round we have a smaller version of the full size doll as it's the younger members of the Barbie world who get the colour reveal treatment. This is first and foremost about the unboxing (as you can probably tell), and it is great fun watching the excitement as the painted doll is lowered into the warm water and swirled around to reveal which one you've got. You've also got the mystery packets to open for the additional accessories. It makes a big difference from the usual "cardboard and cable ties" unboxing as your child wants to take the lead rather than passing the box to you to simply get the toy out.Not only is this a good fun unboxing experience, the doll at the end is great too and having a younger character from the Barbie world brings new elements of play. This then is another success!

Cute and clever Chelsea doll
It was fun doing the colour reveal on the Chelsea doll, I thought the whole doll would be revealed but it's only the outfit that is covered in special paint. The doll came with 4 accessories (5 as they count each shoe deperately for some reason) which is a balloon, 2 shoes, a skirt and a headband. Each doll comes with different variations of these accessories. I wish they would have designed Chelsea's arms so that they can rotate because when you put the balloon in her hand, instead of it going vertically like a balloon would, it just drapes diagonally across her chest which looks a bit silly. My daughters favourite part of this chelsea doll is her colour changing hair. If you put her in the fridge for a minute her hair streaks will be dark blue but blow a hair dryer on her for a few seconds and they change to icy blue - it's really cool. Overall a lovely barbie Chelsea doll that's a bit different and fun to reveal.

Beautiful doll.
My girl loves Barbie and she loved this toy. It was very exciting for her to open all the bags and found out what she got. Beautiful design, lovely colours. Sturdy and durable material. Easy to play with. Great size for a collection.
