This kit comes with everything you need for the valve. it even includes a handle replacement to update the old clear crystal handle to a more modern black handle. The kit is plastic not metal however you can't see that when it is installed and it seems to be very well made. I love the new look

I wouldn't normally review a product like this, but other reviews saved me a lot of time when researching the subject. I had a leak from my bathroom shower. I managed to remove the old Moen plate and knob handle to see that I had the Moentrol valve (the one before the PosiTemp). I also needed to replace the shower head and decided to update all with matte black. Turns out that this Danco set is literally one of the only viable options on the market for this valve in matte black.An important note: a few reviewers mentioned the handle being loose and wiggly, and after installing, I had the same thing. I was disappointed, but tried one last thing: I took it apart and bought a new cartridge (Moen 1225, $40CAD at Home Depot) and reinstalled. It's now perfect. The handle slides in and out with zero resistance and turns seamlessly. The escutcheon is plastic, but the overall look is exceptional and clean. Don't scratch the handle or over-work the black screws, as the imperfections will show. Otherwise, this was a perfect solution to avoid opening up the wall and replacing the old plumbing.
