Geek Chic Crochet: 35 retro-inspired projects that are off the hook

This book was a bit of a disappointment, if I have to be honest. I started making a purse and found that the instructions are not very clear, they're a bit like a run on sentence. Then when you are to go to the next part of your project, there is very little to indicate what you're doing. I found the whole language of this book to be too vague. I like a nice, clear instruction, even it seems redundant to the author. I also feel like the sizes fall short when it comes to bigger clothing. I'm not exactly sure what makes this "geek chic", I was expecting a bit more nerdy and a little less retro.

A lot of cute designs!Pretty easy directions.I 'm used to working with the chunkier kind of yarns. So switching to thinner threads and more stiches per project threw me at first. The end results speak for themselves though.

This book is very easy to read with instructions for everything if you are not familiar with something. The projects are fun, different, and they turn out very beautiful! There is a very nice flow, so I didn't get confused. It is also easy to see the abbreviations, gauge and materials needed/ or used during the original testing. Overall GREAT BOOK for beginning crocheters all the way up to advanced! There is something in here for everyone!

Have not tried the patterns. Ordered the book because the cover made me "homesick" for my younger days. Silly, right? Patterns looked easy enough. Most of them are for lighter yarn - DK or lighter. If you are a longtime crocheter and/or have collected patterns, nothing in this book will be new for you. Even the front tunic could easily be made from a pullover sweater pattern. If you're just starting to collect patterns, this would be a nice range of basic items.

This book has clear directions but also features projects that are just a little different from the standard traditional patterns for hats and mittens you usually get with a croquet pattern book. I liked the dress on the cover so I bought the book but honestly this is the only pattern book I have bought where I really like all of the patterns will make most of them. The photography is very well done and helpful as well.

I like to crochet, so I got this - but the patterns are not for me - they're very nice, but I'm more into granny squares and afghans - but someone with a little more fashion would love these patterns.

I love the patterns in this book, super cute! I will admit I haven't tried out any patterns (yet), but I am more than satisfied with the patterns they include. I have been looking for a basic crochet vest pattern for awhile, and there is an adorable pattern for one in this book. Patterns for sweaters, accessories, and other clothing are included. Good buy!

Sometimes it's too naive and simple but I like it anyway because the ideas pleases me. Try it before buy it.

There is much in it that I would make. I am now on my third project from this book. Do read the crochet explanations towards the end of the book to determine whether it is written in US or UK terms. So far, patterns I have followed have been quite clear.

This book has some gorgeous items in it for young and old, my daughter bought it for me and I then bought it for my sister we have found that the items do come out quite big so always better to make a slightly smaller size

This book began by making me feel nostalgic for my youth because this was really hip type clothing at the time. I find the patterns easy to deal with as well. Even if I did not crochet, this book would be a wonderful pick up and put down addition for the coffee table. Fantastic!

Not really what I thought it would be but not too bad. Wouldn't recommend it.
