Had to re-order - WELL Worth the time & effort ... feels really nice & soft "almost" like real grass ... Fairly nice, I really like it.

Most of my back yard is patio, but I have an approximately 20' x 20' grassy area for the dogs. Unfortunately, the sun absolutely bakes the back yard, and the neighbor behind us allows his weeds to grow wild. I've tried seeding the lawn many times and I tried installing sod (which was a waste of money due to the unfortunate combo of sun and neighboring weeds). This artificial grass has been the perfect solution. I purchased 3 rolls and was pleasantly surprised by how nice they look. From certain angles this is obviously artificial grass, but from other angles it looks quite real. And from any angle it is far superior to the mud and Bermuda grass that used to be there. I put this directly over the dirt, with no gravel or sand fill. I assumed that would be a short term solution so that the dogs could use the yard, and that I'd have to go back and install a proper layer of sand/gravel for drainage. However, we've had a lot of rain plus 8 inches of snow and these are draining very well (even though our soil has a high clay content, so it's very dense). I don't think I'll need to put down any sort of base. The dogs took to this quickly and have been happily doing their business on the artificial grass. We haven't gone through a summer with this yet, but we've had unusually warm weather for late winter/early spring (it's been in the mid 80s) and lots of direct sunlight. The grass has not yet felt too hot (or even warm), so I'm hopeful that it won't burn any doggy feet in the summer. The rolls of artificial grass smelled a bit at the very start, but the dogs didn't seem to mind and the smell dissipated quickly. The dog urine drains through easily so we haven't experienced any urine smell, even when we've gone for over a week without rain. It's incredibly easy to pick up dog poop from this artificial grass, which is an added bonus. We have a 30 lb Shiba Inu (she's a Shibzilla, but her parents were also very large for the breed) and a 35 lb Mountain Feist. They are both very fast, and the Feist has crazy feet with extra strong nails, but they've been able to chase each other and play hard on this grass without any problems. ETA: Now with photos, both a close-up of the grass and a wider view. I have not yet tacked it down because I plan to purchase one more piece. The dogs LOVE this grass. Our Shiba enjoys lounging on it, and both dogs chase each other and play like crazy on it. So far this has been the best solution for our yard.

We bought this to put in front of the kids' soccer goal so the area wouldn't keep turning to dirt/mud. It has held up fabulously for 6+ months! It has done exactly the job we had hoped: no dirt, no mud, no weeds growing up through it. It hasn't morphed, faded, starting shedding, or been worn bare by the kids' cleats. It was easy to trim with a knife, so it fits perfectly around the goal posts. The trimmed areas haven't frayed, curled up, or become noticeable. We play a lot of soccer at a high level, and this turf has taken a beating with heavy shooting and goalie dives. In the Spring, it matches our natural grass pretty well, in the summer it stays green when our grass dries out, so you can tell it's turf, but that's to be expected. I honestly didn't expect any turf at this price point to last 6 months given how we planned to use it, but it isn't showing any signs of damage or wear. Eventually we'll need to replace it, and we'll get the same turf again. Pictures are the view from our window in early summer, with the turf hardly being noticeable, and the goal in late summer where you can see the quality of the edges.
