Update 5/2/18 I originally purchased this replacement collar for my female Golden Ret. in October 2015, and it is still working properly 2 1/2 years later. I made the mistake of trying an eBay version a few months ago to replace the old collar for my male Golden (because it was $20 cheaper). After a few days with the eBay collar, I started noticing the collar randomly beeped even when he was lying within feet of the transmitter. After inspecting the two collars side by side, I found that the eBay collar was Model IF-275, instead of Model PIF-275. In case your wondering, there is no Pet Safe Model IF-275, so this turned out to be another case of a real enough looking Chinese knock-off. (Ironically, when I first purchased this collar from Amazon, I was a little concerned it might not be genuine PetSafe.) Moral of the story is that I still highly recommend this collar from Amazon, and I really wish I would have listened to my own review the first time. Trying to save $20, cost me $100 for a worthless knock-off. Read on in my original review below for more specifics about this collar. Original Review (2016): This was the best price I could find anywhere - even quite a bit better than other Amazon listings, for a Petsafe replacement collar. I was a little concerned this might not be a genuine Petsafe collar, but this is the exact same collar I was trying to replace and it is working fine with my Petsafe Wireless fence. I have had the Petsafe wireless fence for over seven years now, and this was the first time I have had to replace a collar. The system works really well. The collar itself is pretty cheap, and I have replaced the red fabric collar (pictured) with more substantial collars for both my dogs. That said, I can't believe how well the receiver unit holds up, as my two retrievers get them wet & muddy constantly, but they still keep working. I do wish the batteries would last a little longer for the price, though.

I already had the wire free base unit. Our original collar which we had for many years, at least 6 years, fell apart. I ordered this collar to replace the previous one. All I had to do was put the battery in next to the unit and the new collar connected to my unit. Worked right away. Very simple!

Works just as it should, quality is as expected, adjustable, I have it on a half acre range, gives warning before shock. Has instructions.

I am wildly enthusiastic about this product. We live in a wooded area where installing a wire would be impossible. This fence keeps my dogs on my property and out of the street. It allows them freedom in perfect safety. We have an 18 pound dachshund and he wears the collar with no problem. We have had the system for 15 years. The base unit has functioned continuously but we have been through a several collars in that time. Having said all those good things, the system may not work if you are very close to your neighbors. The area of containment radiates out from the base unit equally in all directions and I think 30 feet is about the smallest radius. But if you have the space the system is tremendous.

These are replacement collars for an older Petsafe system and each collars works fine!

I ordered a digital set for 2 dogs at the same price as this one replacement collar but it turned out to be unreliable so I sent it back and stuck with this system!!

I can’t say enough good things about the Petsafe invisible fence unit and the collars It works exactly as described. And it’s portable, so when we go places with our dogs, we just plug it in and they can roam freely but can’t run away. Highly recommend!!

We bought this as an additional collar for our Italian Maremma to go with the new wireless system/collar for our Saint Bernard. We live on a farm about one acre in size before the field starts. So far it has been amazing. We placed the unit in the barn and set it to the maximum area. It worked out perfectly so the warning beep starts right at the edge of the field on either side and the dogs can't get up to our house. They have the back 1/2 acre of property to play, explore and guard our livestock. I walked them around the perimeter with a leash and they both had different responses to their first shock. By the 2nd day they had it mastered and no longer test the boundary. They are both like different dogs since getting the wireless fence, so happy and able to play with each other at anytime. We had a in ground invisible fence before but the wire was constantly getting chopped by tractors driving through. It was a big investment but we're quiet happy with the outcome so far. I would give it 5 stars but the price for an additional collar seems steep.

Had to buy a new collar when our first one quit. It had been a few years old and our girl played outside a fair bit so it got plenty of useage. When we got 2 more dogs, each one needed their own collar. The battery life is about 1 1/2 - 2 mths depending on weather. They don’t last as long in the cold. Make sure to by the 2 pack batteries and not the 10 package one. They discontinued the 10 pack so what’s still showing as for sale are older batteries that don’t have a charge (or at least a low & short one). Static power can be altered under that clear cap. We’ve got our collars on different levels depending on which dog is wearing it. Ours is positioned outside in a shelter & It gives a good distance on our front lawn for them to run but they can’t reach the back yard round the house as it falls outside the circumference. It’s not economical for us to buy a second power station at $600 though. To make sure they know where the boundaries are, we’ve walked around holding their collar in our hand first and set up pilons along the ridge of the acreage before putting them onto the dogs.
