Ectaco ER500 Partner English-Russian Talking Electronic Dictionary and Audio Phrasebook

This was the second Ectaco talking dictionary product we've purchased in 5 years. The first was (Model ER300T) was adequate for daily use, but we needed an upgraded device. This one Ectaco ER500 Partner English-Russian Talking Electronic Dictionary and Audio Phrasebookwas an extreme disappointment. Our use was to be in a low-lighting setting, so the absence of any backlighting and dark LCD made it unusable. Also, the speech was garbled and unintelligble. We contacted the vendor and asked to return the product. They complained about how they were going to lose money due to Amazon's fees, but agreed to "waive the restocking fee" and gave us a RMA number and shipping address, promising a full refund.We returned the product via UPS and provided the tracking number to the vendor. It was delivered to them on September 28, but no refund or credit card credit has been received.
