GC QUill Calligraphy Pen Set Writing Case with 5 Bottle Ink

I bought this as a gift for my grand daughter who took a calligraphy class. This set was so nice I almost bought a second one to keep for myself. The picture of the unit does not do it justice. This is high quality set that will allow you to send cards or invitations with a beautiful flourish. Even an amateur can get this to work with a nice finished product. Of the many more expensive sets I looked at, this one gives great value.

A nice beginner set for the price. The first one that was sent to me arrived with the pen holder broken off of the ink well stand, so I infer that the soldering on that particular piece isn't meant to hold up to the tests of time; but again, for the price it's great. Unfortunately, I won't be able to give a review of the use of the product itself since this is a gift for my aspiring calligrapher brother-in-law, but I am an experienced calligrapher myself and the nibs and ink bottles in this set make it ideal (IMO) for a beginner. There is a lot of room for a beginner to grow with this set.

This was a gift for my sister, her first intro into calligraphy and she loved the set! Of course the ink will make a mess if you're not careful but that goes without saying. Very happy with the product considering the price.

Got this set for my daughter, and then I used the set as well. One jar lid wasn't screwed on really tight so it leaked a little in shipping (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5). If someone did a lot of calligraphy or was extremely serious about calligraphy, I could see spending the money for a higher quality set. But for beginners and people who need a set for crafting or writing special notes occasionally, this is the set.

Disappointing.- There are no instructions at all.- The ink is OK.- The nibs are the most disappointing part of the set.Nibs:Of the 6 nibs provided, only half work, and the types provided are a poor selection.1 ball nib (same as a traditional fountain pen nib). This one works adequately.4 point nibs (all same size, just different styles of holding the ink on the nib). Only one of these worked, and it was not impressive.1 round/monoline nib (large). This nib works very well.0 chiseled nibs. Chiseled nibs are the bread an butter of calligraphy. One would expect at least two different sizes in a calligraphy set. None were provided.Ink:The inks are basic colors (I was not expecting anything spectacular here, for the price). The colors can be a little washed out, except when using the monoline nib (it deposits a lot of ink). The red is more of a red-orange.Comparing other inks that I have (Pelikan 4001, Iroshizuku (Pilot), and Noodler's), using the same nibs:The more expensive inks held more ink on the the nibs and flowed better, improving on the nibs that worked, but not enough to make the other nibs work.Conclusion: I see some other kits on Amazon that look to have better nibs for only a few bucks more. I should have done more research and not relied on high star reviews.

This Pen came in good condition and earlier than expected. I bought this pen as a gift for my friend and he loved it! He said it works great and also said that some of the nibs are flex nibs. The box is so nice and it seems to have a magnetic flap to keep it closed. It is also very large. much larger than expected.

I bought this set for my son for Christmas and he loved it! Unfortunately, the practice pad I bought to go with it was not very good (see separate review) but he was able to use another pad he had and saw much better results with the set. He loved that there were so many nibs in the set.

I ordered this as a Christmas gift and was so excited for it to come. It came on time and the box is beautiful BUT when I opened to check it for the first time, I realized the green ink bottle was leaking!! It leaked into the foam on the bottom, smudged and stained the bottle next to it and got all over my fingers... I was trying to wipe the green bottle with napkins but it just never stopped so I gave up. Just so disappointed cause this was supposed to be a gift. Bummed because this does make a great gift otherwise :(
