Arrived nice and early and was packaged well to avoid damage. Everything is fine with it - also a really useful book for my biochemistry module at uni.

I love everything about this book - it teaches you all the basics and then some more. I recommend it to everybody.

Recommended core textbook for my course, information is very precise and concepts and pathways are explained well. It is just a very dense and info-packed book, so a few more diagrams/less text packed per page would have helped me process the information better. Still a good course companion though!

The book is decent and contains some very nice illustrations which are very helpful. However, I can't give it more than 3 stars, as some of the principles of metabolic regulation, which are very essential in biochemistry, are poorly explained. It will provide you with a basic knowledge of how the different hormones regulate the metabolic pathways of the cells, but if you study the text in dept, you'll be left with several questions, as the book is not consistently specific in its descriptions and sometimes even contradicting when refering to concepts which have been explained earlier. I can't help thinking whether these as "honest" mistakes due to poor proofreading, or they've been added on purpose, to give the authors an excuse to publish a 7th edition at some point in the future, to sell more books.

Ok so biochemistry is no joke, I've never read a text book for lecture until I took biochemistry. This book does a really good job of giving pictures to describe the text. The subtext underneath the pictures are probably the most important and helpful parts of this book. The textbook give you a lot of information, but they cover the biology and chemistry aspect of each concept. It's a really good textbook if you are taking biochemistry. I am not one to buy the textbooks, I generally avoid it if I can. But I would strongly suggest getting this book, it definitely helps you for the class. It clearly explains all the definitions and has illustrations to go with it. The questions at the end of each chapter are life savers, because ALL the answers are in the back of the book. There is also a glossary in the back to help with definitions.

This is a beautiful book that figures are understandable and article are also clear to sutudy.

Biochemie wurde von mir von Anfang an völlig falsch eingeschätzt. Als dann noch ein anderer Prof den restlichen Teil der Vorlesung mit Biophysik Schwerpunkt abhielt hielt ich mich dann auch von der Uni fern. Der erste Versuch der Prüfung war damit ein glatter Reinfall. Also: Nachholen. Ein Buch musste her, die Deutsche Ausgabe etwas in die Jahre gekommen kam grad, sogar noch günstiger als die alte Deutsche Ausgabe, die Sixth Edition des englischen Originals heraus. 2 oder 3 Wochen vor dem Zweiten Prüfungsfenster. Zeitlich reichte das zwar nicht mehr um ein ganzes Buch zu lesen, insbesondere wenn man nebenbei noch ein Praktikum an der Uni hat, aber 200-300 Seiten zu den Klausurthemen überfliegen passten gut in den Zeitplan. Von Nicht bestanden auf 1,7, wäre ich nicht so schusselig gewesen wäre 1,0 auch locker drin gewesen, ich bin schlichtweg begeistert, wie toll diese Buch geschrieben ist und wie verständlich es ist. Ich kaufe mittlerweile nur noch englische Lehrbücher, es sei denn das Original wurde auf Deutsch verfasst. Die Art und Weise, wie an den Stoff heran gegangen wird ist gänzlich anders und, verglichen mit der drögen deutschen Didaktik, brilliant!
