H9505: Superb Noise Cancellation with great build quality
Have been looking for a good quality ANC headphone for noisy environment for a while. I need an extra pair when working in server room which the fan noise is quite loud. After some research, this Philips H9505 came across and I really like the design. Hence decided to give it a try. Here are some Pros and Cons: Pros: 1.Really good noise cancelling effect, the Hybrid ANC feature works really well on cancelling fan noise. 2.Awaressness mode has the right amount of ambient sound balance, not overly amplifying whispers as some other expensive ANC headphones tends to. 3.Very comfortable headphone padding. A good whole-day listening companion. 4.Touch pad works! I'm not a touch pad fan generally but the one on this headphone works as a charm! 5.For the sound, the tune skewed heavily towards Bass. I'm impressed by the extension of the low end, probably contributed by the 40mm driver. Maybe a bit too heavy from my taste but this works well in noisy environment. 6.Solid construction and great design, built with premium materials. Head band, padding, driver housing, hinge...etc. I also like the how it looks but this might be subjective. :P Cons: 1.The headphone buttons has that cheap plastic look. Although the buttons are small and low profile, but I mean come on, it's like a Maserati with Chrysler parts on console. 2.The App doesn't really do anything, hence lack of ability to personalize frequency response. A multiband EQ would be nice. Hope Philips will update the app in the future to support this feature. Overall a solid headphone, some details could have been better but I'm satisfied as is. This will be my working horse for office use. Edit 6/29/2021 Philips headphone app now works with my H9505. Now I can toggle different level of ANC. Also got the EQ adjustment feature which is the most important to me. For some reason the custom EQ setting reset itself on the APP. Setting seems to be preserved in the headphone but not quite sure. Hope this could be fix soon.

Not very good folding design, fragile and broke at the hinge
Negative: Bought these about 3 months ago and the hinge where it swivel and folds is so fragile it broke. Philips won't honor the warranty because it's physical. Never heard that excuse before. Now I'm using it with tape on one side as it's hanging by the wire. So there's no pressure on it on that ear and the sound is a bit lower as compared to the other side. As you can see in the photos, it's practically brand new and not abused. Don't count on any warranty from this Philips. Positive: Other than that it's a good headphone in terms of sound quality and ANC. With ANC on, it removes a lot of the noise from the environment as I commute via subway. The bass is amazing and I'm already afraid of hearing damage if I turn it on too loud as the bass is kicking. Battery life is excellent. I can use it for 3-4 hours a day for a week without having to recharge.

Great for college students who need help focusing in busy environments
I’ve been looking for a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and came across these by the recommendation of a friend. I bought these headphones for the purpsoe of studying, productivity, and traveling. I’m not super tech savvy, but I really enjoyed using it for the past few months. Perfect for maintaining focus & personal quiet time: Like I said, I’m not super tech savvy. These headphones are super easy to use. I just turn it on and I feel like I can tackle on any assignment, essay, or research project. With so many things going on at a university setting, it helps me focus on the task at hand. I think that the ANC tap feature is pretty cool. It’s really convenient when I’m at a study group. Whenever someone needs to say something to me, I just tap the sides and I can hear what they have to say without having to take off my headphones constantly. I also really like taking these headphones with me for road trips. When I’m not driving, I like to take a nap while my friend/boyfriend drives. The headphones cancel out the loud road and air vents. It makes falling asleep a lot much easier because I’m so sensitive to sound. Comfort: The memory foam padding makes it super comfy to wear even after long periods of time. Other headphones I used to wear would start hurting after 2-3 hours due to the headband and the ear cups. Most headphones tend to have smaller ear cups and it can get pretty painful if you have lots of ear piercings like me. These headphones have large ear cups and encompass my whole ear, perfect for my pierced ears. Superb Sound Quality: I like to listen to music while I study or when I go on walks. I love how dynamic it sounds, especially the bass. I’m not sure how to explain it, but the music sounds more detailed? In comparison to other headphones and earbuds I’ve tried. Podcasts also sound amazing as well. It makes voices super clear, almost as if the podcast person is in the same person as you. Long Battery life: These headphones have a surprisingly long battery life. I use the headphones for about 1-2 hours a day and I could go up to 3 weeks without needing to charge. Pairing Issues: The only issue that I’m currently having is pairing the headphones with my 2013 MacBook air via Bluetooth. Not sure if it’s a software problem or my MacBook is too old (it’s pretty ancient), but it doesn’t seem to show up on my devices. However, it’s not a big problem because I use the cable that it comes with.

Pleasantly Surprised, at Least after Limited Use
Purchased four sets of headphones for a family vacation. I am pleased to report the ANC is excellent in the airline environment, and the "awareness mode" is also helpful. The headphones are comfortable. The accompanying control app is helpful and allows for some customization. Battery life is more than sufficient and charging is easy. Included plug and two-prong airline adaptor are also useful. A couple issues that make this a four star and not five: (1) when connected to airline entertainment via Bluetooth, I had to max out volume to hear the show I was watching (same for kids). Conversely, volume levels were much better when physically plugged in to the entertainment system. (2) When not connected to Bluetooth, the headphones turn off, and ANC with them, every few minutes. This occurs even if the headphones are physically plugged into a source. This is extremely annoying. You can work around this problem by connecting to your phone via blue tooth, turning off your phone volume, then physically plugging into the entertainments center. Not ideal. Overall this product exceeded expectations for noise cancelling ability and sound quality. They are also very comfortable. Final thought: based on reviews and price it appears this product is not robust and tends to break after limited use. After a single trip all four sets I purchased are fine, and we intend to only use them when traveling. I will update this review if the headphones do end up breaking after a short time, despite limited and sporadic use.

Amazing NC headphones: And I tried about 10 of them under $300
Honestly, these things are terrific. I don't say that lightly. I bought the Hesh ANC, Bose, Soundcore, you name it. These have the best features, the best sound, and the best noise cancelling (Hesh is #2 for NC). In terms of features, I love the touch control right headset. Tap to play/pause, swipe up for volume up, down for volume down, and to the right to skip. Great feature that makes using them soooo much easier. But these truly shine in the noise cancellation. You can barely hear any ambient sounds with it on (don't worry, there is an ambient sound feature too). I was really impressed compared to the other headsets I tried. Oh, and if you have a fairly big/long head, these are the headphones for you. They "extend" more than any other I tried, so the top of your head does not end up in pain from the headband after an hour. They are way more comfortable in that regard than any other set. And overall, the comfort level on the actual ears is great too -- because your ears will fit fully inside the foam. Everyone has an opinion, but I find it hard to believe that anyone would rate these anything but 5.

Great Headphones, but fragile
In the span of a year, I have bought three sets of these headphones, and all have broken. I don't believe I am particularly rough on them, and really only use them at my desk, but all three have snapped at the pivot for the headphone. Other than that, I really have enjoyed them. The audio quality is great, the ANC and passive noise cancellation have performed extremely well. They are comfortable for long hours of wear. It just sucks that they wont last all that long.

– Great sound, poor durability
I’ve used the Philips H9505 for 8 months—mostly for music and audiobooks—and while they sound great, the build quality let me down. 👍 What I Liked: Great noise canceling for the price Long battery life, even with ANC on Comfortable fit – no pressure or fatigue after hours Customizable EQ in the app with lots of presets 👎 What I Didn’t: Build quality is weak – hinge broke after 8 months of regular use Plastic slider snapped after just 2 months Materials feel cheap compared to my older Philips Fidelio X2HR (granted the H9505 are meant to be light for travel). These would’ve been great daily drivers if they held up better. But unfortunately, I can't recommend them for long-term use.

Give these a chance!
I was in the market to replace some Soundcore Q30s that I got a few years of use out of. I really enjoyed them, however, they fell apart beyond what electrical tape and super glue could remedy. In a market saturated with low to mid priced options and questioning Soundcore's build quality, I embarked on a quest for a serviceable pair of headphones for under $100. After going 0/3, I took a shot in the dark with the Philips TAH 9505 headphones. I purchased them used for $42 and change on Amazon. Result: Pleasantly surprised! The sound quality is better than the Q30s IMO, especially in the mid to high ranges. The pads for the ears are thick and quite comfortable, though the phones clamp a little tight. ANC is good enough for me, while the cups seal quite well, eliminating the need for ANC in many situation. All that being said, if you're frustrated by the lack of solid and affordable options, give these a try.
