Good fan for the price
I’ve bought a few Pelonis Stand Fans and was very happy with them, so thought I’d give this a try. Overall I am happy with it at the $40 price. First impression when I unpacked it was that the build quality felt cheap. All plastic. But when I turned it on I was pleasantly surprised. It is well balanced, doesn’t vibrate or wobble like cheaper fans. And the noise level for me is not too loud. This fan moves a lot of air so there is going to be some noise, but it’s acceptable to me.

Cooling and Safe for Pets, but Expensive and Loud
Pros and Cons of the Box Fan 2 PROS: It’s safe! The grating protects the nose of my curious cat (He’s the 7.5 pound star of the video!) from the moving blades. A small finger can fit through, though, so supervise young children if they are near it while it’s plugged in. Its light weight means I don’t worry I will hurt my clumsy @$$ by dropping it if I carry it room-to-room. It’s cooling! Given fans MOVE air rather than change temperature, my goal was to use the fan on low setting during winter and high setting during summer to suck temperature-controlled air from the living room (where the electric space heater and air conditioner are) to propel down the hall to other rooms. The fan said, “I’m not like other fans that adhere to physics. Screw science!” Within 20 minutes on the low setting, it cooled my hallway down 2 degrees according to my home’s thermostat while the heater was on. I expect it would have cooled further if I had left it on longer at a higher speed. This fan will do well cooling a space in summer even though it doesn’t help circulate heat in winter. 2 CONS: It’s costly! $45 full-price is expensive for a plastic box fan with 3 speeds and no other features. It’s like a snobby restaurant that charges lofty prices for disappointing small food portions. Fortunately, I bought my fan used at half-off from Amazon Resale, and it came clean in working condition. It’s loud! Like most fans, it can be hard to hear a live person or recorded show while sitting near it on high speed. (The video features the low setting, so triple that noise in your mind, or watch videos in other people’s reviews where they go through the settings.) It’s better to leave it on the other side of a room while it’s on high unless you’re doing a silent solitary activity, like sleeping, gaming, or reading. Alternatively, sit near it on purpose while people are in the room if you want to tune them out! CONCLUSION: The safe and effective box fan is worth buying at a discounted sale price, but it doesn’t have enough features to warrant purchasing at its high full price.

Decent fan, lightweight but does the job
Emergency purchase on same day delivery. Central air went out on a 80+ day and the top floor of the house was unbearable. I read the reviews, prepared for something flimsy - but anything was worth a try at short notice. Arrived quickly, very quick setup. Decent performance - obviously not commercial level, but noticeable effect. I set it up on a table in front of a window and it was pretty sturdy and secure - I was prepared for rattling and traveling, but it was fine. We didn’t have it in an actual room, just in the hallway, so noise wasn’t a factor. Happy with the shopping experience overall - no regrets, good value.

Best fan purchased
I’ve had this fan almost 3 years and it works great. I not only use it for air circulation (and I can feel the air flow from living room to bedroom), but also to reduce outside noise (in my apartment), to keep my dog from barking at every sound he hears so it runs almost 24/7. It’s the only fan I’ve purchased that has lasted more than 1 year. Well worth it, easy to clean the blades as well, you’ll know when they are dirty, air flow and sound decrease.

Box Fan is Very noisy!
Recently, I had come across PFT30T2ABB-V Portable 3-Speed 12-Inch Oscillating Table Air Circulation Fan from the same manufacturer PELONIS which worked out great for our bedroom as it was silent and put out adequate amount of air. Although, I must admit, I did hate the big bold logo "PELONIS" in white color on black background staring at you obnoxiously which I solved by putting a strip of black electrical tape. - Problem solved and I was happy with the table fan. Now, recently due to wild fires and heatwave in California, ALL of the local big box local stores were totally out of box fan (Man! talk about panic buying!!?) which prompted me to buy this 20 inch Box Fan from Amazon at double the price than the local stores as I was desperate to have some means to cool down in this heatwave. The Box fan arrived late which has been a trend these days from Amazon as they are totally bombarded with tons of online orders that they cannot seem to fulfill on time due to COVID-19 pandemic. Oh! Well, the box fan arrived and looked great (Apart from the same stupid obnoxious PELONIS logo) But I thought to myself, that is fixable with a black electrical tape. But then, I immediately I noticed the construction is totally plastic other than two metal strips holding the motor inside a plastic cage. My hopes were diminishing by the minute as I started to unpack the box fan. This did not stop me from proceeding further and turn ON the fan, Oh my.. as the blades started to rotate I could hear a noise as if a Jet Engine is starting and while it does move a lot of air only on high speed, it is just too loud... Too loud. In the middle speed setting, there is no difference between that and the low speed setting where you hear a high pitched whine and there is not enough air moved. Only loud high pitched whining sound as if there are 1000s of bees flying past you and absolutely no air moved. So, in the end I concluded that the usable speed is "high" and at that speed it does move air around but it is super annoyingly loud. So, lesson learned. Not all fans are made the same even if it is from the same manufacturer. PELONIS table fan is a good Model with Metallic cage and easy to assemble and runs silently but PELONIS 20 inch box fan is bad design plagued by cheap manufacturing standards wherein they do not even put all the screws needed to hold the two metallic strips inside the plastic cage and the whole thing wraps, bends and rattles making huge noises and puts out absolutely no air whatsoever! I wish I had better experiences to share but I have to tell what is true. Do not go by the fact that you see positive reviews from this manufacturer (They probably are for the table fan) Hate this Box Fan. Rating with one star!

This fan is noisy yes but any motor makes noise, if you want a quiet fan it won't move air Quickly blasts the hot air out or draws air in. Recommended

Does exactly what it says it does. I was a bit nervous to order due to some of the negative reviews but we've been using this thing at least 12 hours a day for well over two weeks and it hasn't crapped out yet or caught fire as some reviews mentioned. Works really well as all three speeds, fantastic for white noise for sleeping as well as an actual fan

It works and at low setting I find it fine for noise level while sleeping (white noise). Just be aware the first click after turning it on is HIGH. Low is the last click. Why 4 stars. Doesn't move a lot of air at high. On low, moves enough to cool the room with it in the open window. What I wanted. Medium, twice as noisy, 10% more air. High, twice as noisy again, 10% more air. Just not useful. For for the price, it's just an 'ok' product for the money, 3 stars. ****But I give it +1 star because the feet can turn into the box leaving a flat surface to press directly onto a window screen. That's nice design! I still miss my Canada Turbo Fan, before it got built cheap and became not a good buy (then brought by seabreeze and discontinued)
