Temperature control is important, but this is a good material.
My main reason for getting this filament was to rid stop the growth of the pile of spools that I have to find other uses for. The spool of this filament appears to be made of compressed paper board or cardboard. This material is both biodegradable (probably compostable) and recyclable. Environment: ========== Ultimaker S5 Indoors, 68F/20C, 54% RH "Generic PLA" profile in Ultimaker Cura The Filament: My initial impression upon receiving the filament was skepticism. The filament itself is more pliable and feels less dense than other PLA when loading it into the printer. Looking at the specifications for this PLA and others made by Polymaker and other manufacturers, PolyTerra is actually a little more dense than standard PLA. This means your printer will need to have slightly more predictable temperatures at the hotend than is usually required for PLA. If you've got a reputable brand and haven't modified the hotend or its related systems, this should not be a problem. The first couple passes seemed a bit goopy will mild pilling and stringing (this is a temperature control issue), but subsequent layers were impressively smooth. I've had this filament for 8 hours now, printing for 7; 3 separate prints. Zero complaints about quality thus far. The filament has a nice matte appearance and texture, and requires little post-processing unless you need a polished part. The color is lighter than standard PLA. Brims tear away easily and leave very little material behind at the corner of the brim and the part. Conclusion ========== If you have a printer than can achieve and maintain tight control of the necessary print temperatures for PLA, you should have no problem printing with this material. I will definitely be buying this again!

Great filament (PolyTerra)
Of the half dozen PLA filaments I have used, this PolyTerra filament is my favorite. I have the Ender 3 V2 and as long as the filament is kept dry, like most, is prints great. I got a 2 roll package of the Black PolyTerra and one of the bags had lost its vacuum. I tried printing with that one first and gave up after 3 attempts. It was not adhering to the plate, stringing like crazy and just made a mess. I opened the other roll and it printed perfect. After baking the first roll at 120F for about 5 hours then sitting on the shelf a few days, it printed just as well as the roll which did not lose its vacuum so good as new. In addition to a great filament, the rolls come in resealable bags which none of the others I have tried do. The rolls are also on recycled cardboard, another plus. Not to mention a planted tree with each roll (gimmicky but hey, still nice). Final plus: the single roll orders contain larger desiccant pouches than most. Unfortunately, the double roll packages did not. They just had the tiny ones.

Very nice filament. Will definitely purchase more
Polymaker’s 2.85mm Matte PLA filament delivers a smooth, low-gloss finish that gives prints a professional look while maintaining excellent dimensional accuracy. It prints consistently with minimal warping or stringing, has a kind of matte finish, very satisfied

Great filament
It prints very well on our Ultimaker S5. Layer and bed adhesion is great and parts come out very sturdy. The matt finish makes it look really good. If you're in need of a 2.85mm filament, but it, it's great.

Sexy looking prints but has issues. Smells like Cap'n Crunch while printing!
This filament has some flex to it. From the very first layer being printed, it was very uniform and looked great. The prints look sleeker because of the matte finish. That being said, it shows imperfections a lot more. If you have z-banding or "bubbles" in your print, they will show so, keep the filament dry to keep it from forming bubbles or popping. Why did I remove two stars? This filament shrinks/warps quite a bit no matter what temp or fan settings I tried. If you need a flat surface, you may not attain it along the horizontal print axis. To compound the problem, the build plate adhesion is not where I would like it to be, even on a PEI coated plate. I tried many different plate temperatures and all pulled away at the edges due to the shrinkage with this filament. I could not get a finished flat surface due to the warping. I suppose I could print a raft and try that but there are so many other PLA filaments that don't have this problem. I shouldn't have to print a raft for larger prints to get a flat surface. I'm guessing the weak build plate adhesion may be due to the matte finish of the filament. The last issue I had was stringing. Even with a lower temperature and different retraction settings, it was still leaving "spiderwebs" everywhere. These issues made the filament a little less attractive to me. Overall, decent filament if you don't need precision or mind the shrinkage. Pros: Price The matte finish looks sexy! The filament is not as brittle, even when left out and has absorbed moisture. It smells like Cap'n Crunch when printing! Cons: Quite a bit of shrinkage/warping Build plate adhesion is fairly weak Fairly stringy, even at lower temps and adjusted retraction Printers tested on: LulzBot Mini LulzBot Taz 6

Best filament for Taz Workhorse
This is my go to for our Taz Workhorse. It has great flexibility and doesn't randomly break off if I leave it loaded overnight like a lot of other brands. Will continue buying it. Almost never fails for me, and prints look great.

Filament worked well. Results were strong and flexible

I bought this PLA for my Ultimaker 2 and it worked great except the stringing. I was printing it at 217 because thats the temperature I usually print at but this PLA is best printed at 200 so if theres any stringing on your prints make sure to reduce the temperature as that is most likely the problem. While printing a bed scraper I also notice this PLA is extremely flexible witch isn’t a problem for a direct drive printer but might be for a Bowden however It did work in my printer. However other than that it’s awesome I can print parts at .2mm layers and barely see any layers, it also has a great texture. So if you don’t mind having flexible parts and possible incompatibility with Bowden style printers I can recommend this fillament.
