

The Grumman Albatross Is A Large Amphibious Flying Boat Derived From The Design Of The Grumman Mallard With A Deepv Hull Section And Longer Airframe The Hu16 Entered Military Service Through The Us Air Force The Us Navy And The Us Coast Guard It Served Primarily As A Search And Rescue Aircraft Fetching Downed Pilots When It Was Flying For The Usaf In The Early Stages The Albatross Was Designated As The Sa16 It Wasnt Until 1962 When The Designation Hu16 Was Used It Was At That Time When The Longwing Variant Rolled Out Of The Factories Being Called As The Hu16B The Hu16 Albatross Was Wellused Especially During The Wars In Korea And Vietnam As Such Grumman Continued To Perfect The Aircrafts Design Which Led To A Quite A Number Of Variants The Hu16E In Particular Was The Variant Employed By The Us Coast Guard The Aircraft Which Was Originally Named The Uf1G Had A Longer Wing And Slight Modifications In Its Computer Systems
