This earned an excellent rating in spite of a few problems, which i'll list in order to help future purchasers. The box it came in and the furniture pieces were all intact and unharmed but the styrofoam had shattered and needed to be vacuumed out, the hardware bag had ripped, scattering its contents throughout the box so I had to be careful with the vacuuming, and the directions were so torn that they had to be pieced together before starting. The screws don't fit flush and they stick out over an eighth of an inch but they're not on the most visible surfaces. The most important thing to mention is that for the first step of fitting the two back pieces together, the directions omitted the insertion of two wooden pegs before attaching the metal braces. Fortunately I have some experience in assembling furniture so noticed that in time. So why a five-star rating? I now have such a handsome, sturdy, easy-to-assemble and useful bookcase I'm so proud of, that I intend to order another kit for a different room.

I want expecting much from a pressed board piece of furniture, but I really liked the style of this shelf so I took a chance on a sale and bought 2.Putting them together requires some time. I did it myself and I think it took me around 45 minutes per shelf. It would be faster with a helper.These hold more than expected and though the directions say to secure the shelf to the wall work an anti-toppling device (included) I found that I didn't need to.These shelves really look nice with MCM stuff, and I get compliments on them frequently.

I really like the unique shape of the bookshelf. That’s what drew my eye to it to buy it. I really like how the books stack. This bookshelf is really easy to put together. Didn’t have any problems with it. Took me about 15-20 minutes to put it together. Not that long. The bookshelves themselves are really sturdy. I didn’t feel like any of my books were going to fall through.One thing I will say is this bookshelf is incredibly wobbly on carpet. I don’t know how it is on other surfaces but on carpet, it’s really shaky. However, this bookshelf does come with wall mounts to mount it to the wall if you’re putting the bookshelf on carpet. Make sure to use it as it provides extra support.But either than that, the bookshelf is wonderful. Would definitely recommend it.

**Update**: a year later it's holding up well- I never did reinforce it, I just left it with a DVD case as a shim underneath to tilt it backward slightly and that stopped the bowing issue. It's fully loaded with 6-8 books in each segment and still going strong. Also, the company has great customer service- they corrected the dimensions in the listing and reached out to me to offer a refund which I declined. I'm adding a star to my rating, I'm pretty pleased with this beauty overall.**Previous Review**This thing is so snazzy, I love how it looks! I do have a few issues with it, however. Immediately after loading it up I noticed it's already bowing/leaning forward from the wall. I put a shim under the front bottom edge so it's kind of leaning backward against the wall now, but I'm going to need to do more to reinforce it if it's going to last. The small metal brackets holding the base together don't provide much, if any, support and 2 of the 4 screws stripped the wood holes so they aren't doing much. The second major drawback for me is that the product dimensions listed are not accurate. I bought this specifically for a nook in my room that is 53" high and the height is listed as 51.7". I chose this over a similar shelf I liked slightly more due to the perfect size for my nook. The actual height is just over 55" so it does not fit in the space I had planned for it. My third issue is minor but annoying- the stickers labeling each piece are placed conspicuously and are a nightmare to get off. It took me half an hour and a lot of elbow grease to scrape the stickers off and now there are gummy sticky spots left where the stickers were. Other than that I'm excited to have this, even though I need to find an alternate location for it and figure out how to reinforce it for extended use.

I had a narrow little area with a massive stack of books and was hoping this would fit and hold enough books to clean up that area a little bit. My 19yo son put together by himself in less than an hour (using a power screwdriver). I love the look and was shocked by how many books it holds. It does tend to lean forward slightly so I put a piece of cardboard under the front edge and now it leans back slightly towards the wall but still feels pretty secure. I don't have any small children to worry about so that will work for me. If I had small children in the home, I think I would want to anchor it to the wall just to be on the safe side.

It was super easy to put together! It took me about 30 minutes to get completely set up. It can really hold a lot of books. Love the style a lot!!

Edit:After reading my review the company did reach out and provided me with a full refund and did not require that I send back the item which I had offered to do. They also offered to send more hand ware with the hope that it would make the piece more sturdy. I was grateful for their customer service and their willingness to stand by their product but also take care of their customers. I have adjusted my star rating based on this. I’m still not a fan of the product (mainly because I find it to be too flimsy for books) but I can appreciate good business.I am a teacher and I purchased this bookshelf to help hold some of my teacher materials in my home office/classroom since I’m teaching virtually this semester. I couldn’t be more disappointed in this purchase. This bookshelf is terrible. It’s extremely flimsy and hard to put together. The wooded pegs keep breaking and of course the window for me to return it closed 5 days ago. For $75 I would expect this to be a little better.
