I bought these to use in my bathroom. I had the intention of putting individual tooth brushes and toothpaste in each container and keeping them in the tray (I thought they might be attached). They are not attached! So I was able to use the round containers for tooth brushes and then I was able to use the tray for some glass jars I keep cotton balls, cue tips, flossers in (I think Mason Jars would look really cool in it too). They look very nice and more finished than a true galvanized product which makes me think they won't rust if you truly used them for plants. There are holes in the bottom of each round container for drainage. The other concern I had when I purchased this was would it be too flimsy--the product is actually very sturdy and seems to be well made. This product is also versatile--I use it in the bathroom but I can't image a room in the house it wouldn't work for. It's nice enough for serving whether indoors or out. We move often and I am always looking for pieces that can be used in all sort of locations. This piece is fabulous and I plan on purchasing another set! Lastly, the size--it is perfect for storing and sorting.
