It is very nicely built and looks great next to the Garmin
Replaced older compass on my Pro-line 22 walk with this gem. It is very nicely built and looks great next to the Garmin. Had to open the hole up to 4" top of dash with a barrel sander attached to a drill but totally worth the extra effort. The green light at night is just right as you can easily see. If you want something nice to show for your hardwork/money this is it. Seems to be accurate without any adjustments so far. Easy to wire one black one red wire. Came with mounting screws and a foam gasket that I did not use. I used 3M fast cure marine sealant to make a water tight seal.

Awesome small boat tool!
Extremely fast shipping...this was installed surface mount on my 18 foot Carolina. Skiff. And works perfectly...suggest that you verify calibration after mounting. Easy fix. Rey solid and lighted for night use.

Nice upgrade to the helm
Great upgrade from my old compass. This compass seems to be more accurate and is certainly easier to read with the nice back-light display. Not much more to say as it is a basic device, but i do like that the product came with all items needed for installation (not always the case with marine products).

Highly recommended if you have the room
After years of broken mounting brackets and the wobble of a relatively inexpensive compass, I broke down and bought this model which is larger than anticipated. If you check the Richie site, they show one dimensioning (scaled) diagram,but leave out the width of the assembly which is about 5.5 inches and the same (5.5) in height, and 4.5 inches in depth. I suspect that when the illumination when turned on the unit will double as a planetarium.Read the instructions carefully and adjust for the region you travel in. There is a difference in true and magnetic north so be careful in adjusting the compass; and, if not sure consult with a professional. Very good compass and will complement my Simrad Evo2 GPS/Sonar/Radar. Extra brackets are available through the manufacturer's website.Time to go and kill some fish. Works well while running fast in heavy seas.

My "Heading" is clear!
Only had it on the water once so far and I have not yet calibrated it (swung it), but the action and readability of it is a major improvement over the previous one. Has a green light for night use vice the normal red I would have preferred but they say green is less tiring on the eyes so we'll "see" the first time I need it at night. Love everything about it so far including the price!
