I baught new batteries and charger and cannot get bike to take a charge light on charger turns green and wont charge batteries

The green light indicates that there is very little charging current. This can be from the batteries being charged, from a bad battery that will not take a charge, or a bad connection preventing charging. Use a voltmeter to determine where the problem is.
