This review is for the PS5 version of the game. This game is amazing. I played the demo on my gaming PC but end up buying it for PS5 since imo there aren’t that many PS5 games out yet. On PC the game runs and looks amazing on my Ryzen 5800X/RTX 3080. I had it installed on a Gen 4 NVMe SSD and I have 32GB of 3600mhz G.skill Ram. It’s a beastly PC. Ultra settings 1440P 165 fps locked. On PS5 believe it or not the game actually loads EVEN faster than on my PC. It has Raytracing on both platforms. On PC I play on a 1440P 27in 165hz monitor and on PS5 I use an LG OLED 49in 4k TV. The game on PS5 looks just as good as PC imo. It runs basically right at a locked 60 fps with Raytracing disabled and still mostly a locked 60fps even with it enabled at dynamic 4k HDR. The gameplay itself is a lot like RE7 but improved upon in every way. It takes the best of old school RE games and the best from RE4/7 combat and combined them to make one of the best RE games to date. Tons of replay value here. The game itself if you explore took me around 10-12 hours to beat and I’m very OCD and take my time. That may seem short but all 10-12 hours is fantastic and literally every RE game ever made to date is around that same length. If you enjoy the old RE games, 4 or 7 this is a must buy imo. One of the best game so far this year. Great puzzles, scares, villains, and even a solid story this time around with top notch visuals. I included pics of the case inside and out for those curious. Great horror game in a long running franchise. Enjoyed watching my daughter playing the whole game. Alot of scares and a couple of laughs. The atmosphere this game creates is really really good

Is this the best resident evil game in my opinion? No, no it is not. But I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It is definitely more action focused than other games. I actually purchased it because of clips I saw of House Beneviento, but turns out that kind of horror is limited to that section of the game. I would have loved more of that vibe. It was fun, decent story, and I liked Ethan as a character. But the 4 remake and Biohazard still win higher spots on the list.

I like the thought of the Resident Evil franchise, and this game will have you on your toes. For me though, I tend to table games that I die too often in. Even my favorite game of all time is collecting dust at the moment because I am stuck on a boss. If you like zombies and shooters though, this is an excellent choice! I do intend to play this eventually. I've only ever played through the original RE game. I have PS Plus Premium and access to several of the RE games. I'm going to progress through them before I play this title again, but just checking it out, it looks phenomenal!
