what is the design space for these?

You can design anywhere on the unit but most people prefer to just do the the top. The whole can coolers (laid down & flat) is about 4" x 5" with about an inch for the part that makes up the bottom. So most people use the top part with some margin making designs about 3.5" x 3.5". If you click on the main image you should see up to 9 images and 1 of them should have a diagram showing this.
