Q: what is the size of each individual train car?

10" x 4" good size well worth the money. Bought to go around the tree for my grandson he loved it and has enough track to go around 7.5' tree. Hope this helps.

Q: Can you use rechargeable C batteries with this train?

I would think so, you also need "D" batteries.

Q: What are the dimensions for the square layout?

The square layout using all of the pieces is around 62" per side.

Q: Is minnie mouse inluded on the train? (description above says yes. i don't see her in the pictures.) my granddaugter is a die hard minnie fan.

I already sent the train back so I cannot say if she is or not. Please be aware that the cars will NOT stay together and this is not a quality item. I boxed it back up after 15 minutes. It was a total disappointment and my grandson LOVES Mickey Mouse so I was so excited to get this for him. We sent this back and bought a $35 set off Walmart.com that has smoke, whistles, lights and cars stay together and are thrilled!
