Only Way To Safely Store Gasoline (IMHO)
UPDATE 12/30/2022: Have had this can and a smaller DOT "over-the-road" transport rated can for over 6 years now and I love them. Have had no issues at all. This is a lifetime product.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I, like many people who store gasoline, had used those cheap plastic containers for years and have never felt safe with them. You may have heard the stories about how they can supposedly split under pressure or even explode since they have no spark arrestors in the spout. And the plastic IS porous allowing evaporation into the atmosphere over time. Read the forum comments on the later model C.A.R.B. approved cans. They leak gas when trying to use them and are just hard to use without spills--that doesn't help the environment nor make them safer to use. With the plastic jugs, I just was not comfortable having these things in my attached garage knowing they would truly fuel any fire once the plastic container melted.I had first hand experience with the benefit of a metal container when I received news that my beloved street motorcycle (with a full tank of gas) had burned in a garage fire. When I inspected the charred remains of the frame and engine, to my surprise, the steel gas tank was STILL full of gas! Some of the aluminum pieces on the bike had melted and were laying in solidified puddles below the bike. But the tank was still intact. This had been a hot fire. But NO explosion or further fueling of the fire. Why? I've been told there is very little oxygen in a properly sealed gas container--the other component required for fire (or an explosion).I had done my research looking at various metal gasoline can manufacturer's products and reading user comments. In my opinion, the Justrite safety can seemed to have the edge over its competitors with their safety features. There are the built-in filler and spout flame arrestors, and the AccuFlow feature that allows you to CONTROL the flow into any gas tank with the handle valve. It just seems to have all of the right components for a safety gas can besides being a strong robust container. They are designed to seal and prevent vapor loss, but also safely vent in a fire instead of bursting under the pressure of expanding vapor and fuel.Yes, the cost of this model is three times the price of a plastic can, but what price do you place on safety? When I considered the cost to rebuild a home, or tragically that of a life, the decision was easy for me. They should last for many years and the company offers replacement parts if needed. In practice, a metal can is going to add some additional weight when lifting. Slight folks, beware of this when choosing larger size cans. But on the plus side, it does easily dispense gasoline into my lawnmower and generator without spills (you may see a few drops drain from the spout however). Now when entering the garage I no longer smell gas fumes with these sealed cans. Build quality, materials and craftsmanship seem to be excellent. I can fully recommend the product.

Best gas cans I've ever had.
These are by far the best gas cans i've owned. They are heavy duty metal. There is a positive seal at the top which is for fire, but also keeps fumes in and keeps the gas longer. You can get different size spouts which is something to be aware of when ordering as the larger one will not really work with some smaller gas powered lawn tools. I do like the old style metal pour spouts though as they stay in place and work so much better than plastic spouts or tubes.I've had several for many years w/o any problems. They are so much better than any plastic fuel bottle because gas (especially with ethanol) goes bad so fast in a plastic can. All my plastic fuel bottles are now used for waste oil....

Best gas can I've owned in over 35 years
Gas cans have been pretty terrible ever since the EPA got involved. I have wasted more gas from the "new and improved" EPA cans that regularly dribble and leak when filling up the lawnmower than I ever lost from my old boyhood lawnmowing metal gas can that had an open spout that vented straight into the air. And THIS particular gas can bests them all. It is incredibly sturdy, and very easy to use. No more fiddling with plastic caps that cut your fingers and never fully open nor close, or with spouts that force you to hold the can in awkward positions in order to pour the fuel. The one-hand operated, spring-loaded cap, along with the flexible spout, makes this an absolute breeze to vent and to pour. It fills *very* fast, and yet it is so easy control that I haven't wasted a drop since buying it. After my second use of this can, I loaded up my collection of plastic gas cans and took them to the dump.

Quality you can feel
The quality of the can is superior, the initial cost was a bit of a shock but that all went away once I received the can and assembled it. I ordered two of these cans and both had dents on the top of the can, not a deal breaker its just cosmetic. They function as expected and I feel they were well worth the investment.

Great long lasting gas can
Great gas can . Better than the new design plastic slow pouring cans that are available in stores currently.

I absolutely love this gas can
For something that seems like such a simple and utilitarian item, upgrading to an all-metal type 2 gas can is one of the most satisfying purchases I recall making recently. Every single time I pull this thing out to fill it I'm just delighted by its effectiveness. It's sturdy, never spills a drop of gas, stands upright and lets me insert the autofill nozzle from the gas pump and shuts off when it hits 5 gallons just like filling a car. If you do anything where you regularly need gas I can't tell you how happy you will be, just go ahead and buy it you will not regret the extra money compared to all the wasteful plastic ones you've probably seen come and go over the years. I can't believe I'm raving about a gas can but it is really really a quality item.
