Good bucket.
Somewhat different from the picture currently associated with it, the bucket has "True Brew" embossed on the front and a blue lid. The lid snaps on extremely tight. While the manufacturers present this as a "bottling bucket" I have found that the 6.5 gallon size and the location of the spigot (1 inch above the bottom of the bucket) makes this an excellent vessel for fermentation. The trub (sediment from fermentation) of a 5-gallon batch does not rise above the bottom of the spigot; I'm able to use the spigot, rather than a siphon, to bottle. The spigot lever has "On" and "Off" in raised plastic - white on white. I used colored Sharpies to highlight "Off" in red and "On" in green. Make certain the spigot is closed before filling! There is a slight tendency for the spigot to leak when one is opening it, but it's just a couple of ml. The bucket has a sturdy wire handle with a rotating plastic grip in the center.

Nice bucket!
I bought this bucket because a "friend" ran off with my last primary and I needed to make a batch of plum wine. I am definitely please with this purchase. The included spigot is pretty nice, and I like that it can be rotated to point up or down, so that I can leave it up while I ferment and down when I use the bucket for bottling. I also like that it's a twist on/off instead of the "accidentally lift up the lever and spill wine everywhere" style lever. This will replace my current bottling/degassing bucket, which is too big, as well as being my primary fermenter, so it's a space saver as well. The hole for the airlock is a tight fit, but I like it better than my old one which required a rubber bung to hold the airlock. The measurement lines on it are great, and seem to be accurate, and as a bonus it has some other useful information (an ABV chart and some other charts that I forget right now) printed on the sides. It's a thermoplastic, so I wouldn't want to put boiling water in it, but I did add a freshly boiled honey/water solution to my plums, which brought the temperature to 130 or so, and the bucket didn't deform. It seems very sturdy, and is made by Ropak, who seemingly make just about every bucket or similar container in the US.Stop thinking, and buy it already!

Great fermenter but lid doesn't seal tightly.
This is a good fermenter for being able to re-rack into another bucket after primary fermentation occurs OR to be racked into for either secondary fermentation or bottling. This allows for the dead yeast, hops, and grain dust that has settled during fermentation to remain on the bottom of the bucket. It maintains a slight space in between the settlement and what comes out the spigot. The bucket came complete with lid pre-drilled with a rubber grommet that fits an airlock bubbler, and pre-drilled with the hole, spigot, the backer nut, and two rubber washers. The downside of this fermenter is that the lid, when secured, allowed CO2 to escape not through the airlock, but through the seal of the lid, which at first glance, made me believe that my yeast was bad, and the fermentation wasn't taking place. After figuring out what happened, and almost throwing out 5 gallons of Oktoberfest, I sealed up the seam where the lid locks onto the bucket with some gorilla tape, and it sealed the leak up and forced the out-gassing CO2 through the airlock now, and prevented any external factors for spoilage. That's the reason for the 4 stars and not 5.

Great for primary beer fermentation
Easy to use And clean. Spigot is really nice to have for beer transferring. Works well and doesn't leak. Good value

Poor quality
This bivouac extremely hard to use. The spigot was cheaply made and broke off after a minimum amount of torque used to seal it. After placing the lid on the bucket it will not come off. I texted them with this problem and was basically told there was nothing tho could do about it. This was a total waste of money andMy five gallons of cider was lost.

Works perfect, would buy again
Bought as a gift to my husband. The lid is difficult to put on for me, but my husband doesn't have any issues. Spigot works great and is suprisingly easy to clean. Wish the spicket had a cap of some sort to put on it because my dog keeps trying to lick it. The spigot hangs low, so we have to keep the bucket on the edge of the counter, which is an inconvenience, but it never leaked and makes bottling a breeze. We have done three brews in here, each a couple months long before reracking them onto one gallon carboys (with different adding to give variety of flavor). This has really increased our output. The bucket lid has started to bow a little from wear, but that's common with plastic items. Overall we are very satisfied and it was well worth the money. Would buy again if I had more 1 gallon carboys. Holds 5 gallons of liquid with plenty of head room for our brews.
