Give New Life To Your Tools
This was the first time I used Performix 11604-6 Blue Plasti Dip, 14.5 fl oz. I found it very easy to use & a lot less messy than I thought it would be. I decided to cleanup & Plasti Dip some of the tools my father had given me years ago. I used a Dremel, sandpaper, degreaser & alcohol to clean & prep the tools. I was not trying to get the tools to look new & shiny, just really clean so the coating would adhere correctly to the tools. I made sure there was no dirt, rust, grease or oil to interfere w/the product. Things to remember are to make sure the Plasti Dip is well mixed. The product separates & settles to the bottom when it sits. If it’s not mixed well, your coating will be thin, lumpy or uneven. While mixing, be careful as not to stir too vigorously as you may cause the formation of bubbles & these may transfer to whatever your applying the coating to. Also, if you plunge the object to be coated to quickly into the Plasti Dip, you may cause bubbles to form as well. Be sure to slowly (approximately at rate of 1 inch per 5 seconds) dip the object in & remove at same rate. This also allows the excess to slowly run off as you’re removing it from the Plasti Dip. This helps w/minimizing waste & making a mess. As per the instructions, at 70F (21C), allow 30 minutes between coats (I found 2 coats was enough for me) & 4 hours to dry before handling. The coating is a vibrant blue, but it is flat blue. If you desire a glossy color, Performix does sell a spray gloss coating especially formulated for this. I cannot attest to the durability of Plasti Dip yet, but it looks good, feels good in hand & appears to have adhered very well to the tools I dipped. I’ve only used about 35% of the can so far & will be coating some other tools soon. I may try brushing the product on to see how that goes. To keep the unused product from drying out, I placed the plastic cap on the can, then turned the product around the lip/rim of the can under the top, so it filled in the gap & hopefully this will seal it air tight. Thank you for taking the time to read my review, I hope you found it helpful.

Works as expected. Lasts a long time.
This image is what it looks like 3 years after I applied the blue Plasti Dip to my laptop computer. My laptop base is a strange shape - it's a wedge shape. So if you place it on a flat table, it's slanted. Anytime I left my mouse on the laptop, it slid toward me. If I didn't catch the mouse, it'd keep sliding and hit the floor. I put pads under the shorter end of the laptop to keep it level, but it still had a really smooth surface and any nudge would send the mouse sliding off and hitting the ground. I kept a mouse pad on the area where there were no keys but it wasn't a good solution either because the mouse pad would slide off, too.. Finally, I decided that I was going to put some type of sticky surface, or something with a bit of friction on my laptop to keep the mouse in place, and also use it as a mouse pad. I used painter's tape to cover the parts of my laptop where I wasn't going to add Plasti Dip and then I painted the Plasti Dip onto the bottom portion of the laptop and let it dry. It has worked very well. It's been 3 years now and the Plasti Dip is still on there and still rubbery enough to keep the mouse in place and be used as a mousepad. The left side must be over the hottest part of the computer, because the Plasti Dip has discolored a bit and turned a yellowish green. The right side has some marks from the mouse. But it still works really well and is adhering to the laptop case.

Seems okay, time will tell on durability
The stuff is pretty good but don't expect professional feeling handles like you would buy on tools that already have this coating, this stuff is kind of gritty and it almost has half rubber half Play-Doh type consistency when it's fully dried oh, it does the job pretty good if you just looking to cover up an old handle. I used it on the steel handle for a brass hammer they had lost all it's binding over the years, the handle I had was too long to use the container so I ended up just kind of pouring it over it and it came out a little uneven on some parts, but that was my fault this stuff is made to be dipped in all the way in and slowly pulled out with a couple of coats. So if you have a longer handle get two cans and put it in a long narrow container that whatever you're dipping will be able to dip in vertically.

New grips for tools
It’s great to have a plastic/rubber grip on my old tools again. Easy to use and the quality is great.

This is a great idea, but it is so thick
This is a great idea, but it is so thick, hard to use and the container it comes in does nothing to keep the air out. I bought this to coat the handles of kitchen utensils. It was really thick and I had to use a paint brush to try and level it out. I went back to finish up my utensils the next day and even with the lid on it had hardened too much to be usable. Even though I did not finish my project I will not be purchasing more of this. Too much in a container when it doesn't even last. A lot of money wasted. Oh and it smells HORRIBLE!!!!

My last can was in yellow. I coated some of my crescent wrenches more than ten years ago and still going strong. Now in order the blue for different purposes and look forward to its use for different purpose

Followed directions, let dipped items cure for 24 hours before touching. 1) items looked good, but once I touched them they became tacky and appear to absorb dust/ lint. 2) got grease on the coated handle and now they are mostly black/ brownish. 3) cost 20$ to purchase, cost 20$+ to ship, plus 21$ duty.
