I have never reviewed a Bible before, but I had to review this one. I read one Passion Translation passage from Psalms on a Bible app and I loved the way the words were written. They flowed into my brain and my soul. I have never had that happen. I found a copy on Amazon that has my favorite flower (peony) on its cover. I have other Bibles so I thought I was being silly buying this one, but I am so glad I did. It is like I'm reading these scriptures for the first time. I love the annotations on the page explaining why the wording was chosen with scriptural and linguistic reasoning. I have cried as I've had personal revelations from reading these passages. I was raised in a religion that twisted the Bible and have had problems reading scripture since, but the Passion Translation has healed that damage. I am reading it from Matthew to Revelation on my own time because I want to. The pages are easy to read and the peony edition is gorgeous. I keep the built in bookmark on Psalms 23.

This is one of the best translations I have ever read. King James was absolutely great to me, and I understood none of it. But this is written in every day, easily understood, English language.I absolutely love it.

I love The Passion Translation because it so beautifully conveys God's passion for His people! Most versions of the scriptures present just the facts, but Dr. Simmons captures the emotion that surely would have surrounded the situations. The first TPT verses I heard were the 23rd Psalm read to me over the phone; it sounded like musical revelation. When I got my copy, and compared it to NIV, RSV, and others; they all said the same thing, but the language usage of TPT is wonderfully refreshing. The footnotes are a college class in themselves, yet they are easily understood; they add much understanding to the time and culture of the original writing. Dr. Simmons and his lovely wife Candice are not only accomplished writers, but are also skilled speakers and teachers. This labor of love is truly a gift to the world.
