413 - Three Channels Home Power-line Intercom System, 3 Wire, White, Three Stations Set by Intercom Central

The units are installed in a house and a detached shop -- on the same electrical service. The voice audio is excellent. The CALL function is very helpful. When setting the first two units up, they worked very well. When the third was added, the system no longer worked -- even if the third unit was not turned on! After much experimentation, it was discovered that when a device with an instant on function (a TV), even when turned off, was plugged into the same outlet as an intercom, the system didn't work properly. When the TV was plugged into another outlet, the system worked fine. The "other" outlet is on the same branch circuit. Electrically, there is no reason why moving the TV to another outlet on the same circuit allowed the intercoms to work, but that's what happened.

I have all grounded outlets, and one power meter coming into the house, but it was NOT plug 'N play. For whatever reason, we had to keep moving the units to different outlets and trying different channels until, after nearly 2 hours, all 3 units were communicating with each other clearly. I am by no means an electrician, but it could be that some areas suffered from interference of some kind. Once we did the trial and error method, and finally had all 3 units communicating with each other, this is now a fantastic set-up. Well worth the effort. Also, kudos to Intercom Central for their very detailed instruction booklet and their email about installation and troubleshooting. 5 well-deserved stars.

Worked right out of the box for us. We decided on Intercom Central based on price and mostly good reviews. We don't have a huge house, but it's too far to yell from one end to the other. We put one unit in the master bedroom, one in the kitchen, and one in the office at the far end of the house. This is really nice. No more yelling or going from room to room to communicate. We are thinking of buying an additional set so we can put one in the garage and one in the shop. I wish we would have had these years ago. Some of the reviews mentioned a buzzing or humming. We did notice that, but it is not bad. It might be annoying if you used these as a monitor and had it on transmit all the time. We only used them as intercoms, so we hardly notice the hum. Compared to similar intercoms this one is a bargain!

This is a fantastic product. Very easy to use and no installation or ugly wires everywhere. Just plug it in and walk away. Highly recommended if you have kids in the basement or a man in the garage that you need to get in for supper. No more search or screaming. A simple press of the button and my normal volume is all I need to do now. This is a great item and a great price. In fact, I just purchased another set for a family member.

We use these to communicate between three rooms in our two-story house, and they work fine. We simply plugged them in the nearest outlet to where we wanted them located, and they worked. So very simple, plug-and-play wise.The sound quality is fairly old-school intercom/speaker-phone (be prepared for walkie-talkie acoustics) but we can hear each other well enough. It's nice not to have to scream up the stairs now, so it's exactly what we were looking for.Not the greatest intercom system ever invented, but it was easy to set up, and it works.

Intercom works fine, BUT this was the second order. The first time one of the units was defective. While that unit was returned without problem, the customers should not be the ones to do quality control. Also, if the customer has to return the item, in my case having to locate and drive to a UPS store, then the company has gotten an hour of my time for free, so from my perspective the item was appreciably more expensive than the list price.

Product seems of good quality, but wouldn't work for me. We have a one-story, 3 BR home built in the late '90's. According to the documentation with the intercoms, every home has two electrical feeds, with circuits branching off of each. Only outlets connected to the same major feed will be able to communicate. After I received the intercoms I plugged them into different outlets and found that one feed connects the garage, basement and kitchen. The other feed services the LR and bedrooms. I wanted to connect the basement to the kitchen and one of the bedrooms. Basement to kitchen worked fine (same feed), but not basement to bedroom. It's not the product's fault. But, to save yourself the trouble of waiting for the product and then having to send it back, use a circuit tester, available inexpensively from a home improvement store, and ensure that the two outlets you want to "talk" to each other will be able to.

These intercoms are working great. We have 3 story house and they easily communicate between them all. It took a little trial and error to find outlets that would transmit cleanly but it's an older house so I expected the wiring might not even work for this. Would recommend these if you're ever in the position of shouting at your kids upstairs or down.

We have a 2-story home and since we are grandpeople, 14 stair steps can be daunting after a long day, so these are excellent for us. The set up is super easy and the volume and sound clarity are great. No more yelling up the stairs! Hooray!! Just plug them in and turn them on!

Plugged them into the power wall outlets and they worked.Pro's- no wireless so can't be snooped- don't need batteries like some others- you can setup monitor mode (pressing Lock button) so one is always on-listeningCon's- lights on the buttons are pretty bright if you put these in bedrooms- the monitor/lock mode...seems like once its on...you can't talk back till someone goes to that room and turns it offOverall, works. good price especially for 3 of them.

These intercoms Worked great for about one year then quit on me. I plugged them in to different outlets and nothing, then turned them off and back on again and they would work for a little while then quit again. And now they just quit on me all together for some reason. It makes no difference where in the house i plug them in, they just wont connect to one another any more. I got frustrated and just bought a 462 MHz Digital FM Wireless 3-Channel 3-Station System with antennas on the intercoms. No more requirements for one power meter any more and relying on electrical lines as an antenna.

I purchased this set so that I wouldnt have to scream threw my house. I put one in my daughters room the kitchen and in my bedroom.Very easy set up.My daughter says she hears static but for the most part if works.

I bought these for my mom and dad as one is always up stairs and the other is downstairs and when I go to visit them I get sick of the screaming up and downstairs and with both of their hearing going bad it was ridiculous. I though this would be perfect for them to not have yell to tell each other something like dinner is ready of the phone of for them. They both love it and my dad treats is like is new toy with calling about silly things just to be able to use the intercom LOL.

Works great! Documentation, not so much (Handbook for the Recently Deceased). They are having a lot of trouble trying to say 'You need to plug the intercoms into a properly grounded outlets ON THE SAME PHASE of AC'. The units must also be on the same channel, selectable by the 1-2-3 buttons on the front panel the first time the unit is turned on (they remember their channel after that). Clear and loud out in the barn 200 feet away.

I installed one in my man cave behind my house, one in my house, and one in my stables. This product has eliminated having to walk out side to contact my wife and vice versa. I also ordered a set for my youngest son and his wife so that they can use them as a monitor for the baby to soon be born.
