Good casual use device
First? These are NOT rated for climbing. What you can use them for is simply attaching gear to one's belt, pack, pouch, or other strap with the idea that it will be there when you need it. The locking device keeps the carabiner secure and prevents accidental opening and risk losing your gear. The color selection gives the user the option to color-code your gear as needed. The particular design keeps the carabiner light weight and functional. These carabiners are really nice to have in campsite situations and have a number of uses.

Obsessed! But older was better
4 stars because the new material seems cheaper than the old and it's a tiny bit harder to spin to lock (bring back the old please!). But don't let that stop you from buying! I love this product, using it for years. I have traveled the world in a backpack, lived in cities, and lived on the coast. In all scenarios, this is an everyday go-to for many attachments like my keys, water bottle, to hang hiking boots on backpack, to hang swimsuit etc. I've never broken one, never had the lock position not work, and never lost as item. It twists up far enough so you really have to untwist it which would take a thief awhile. I trusted the old ones to hold my keys to me while skydiving! Go to product. Please bring back the old though!!

Completely impervious to weathering
I originally bought these for backpack camping. When I got home I needed to do some work on my roof before a hurricane hit. I used this particular one that you see in the photo to attach a piece of rope around the perimeter of the top of my roof to act as an emergency lifeline in case I slipped. Being that I am not super comfortable with heights I left the carabiner where it was after boarding up the upstairs windows for nearly a year. I live in Florida so the rope and carabiner were subject to high winds, rain a lot of sun and humidity. Just recently my dad was up on the roof repairing some leaks and took the carabiner and rope off. Yes I know it's made of aircraft aluminum but the carabiner still looks brand new. There are absolutely no signs of weathering and the threads and spring mechanism work perfectly. If I needed to I would definitely buy these again but I have a feeling they're going to last forever so I'm probably not going to need to. As a word of warning they're definitely not recommended to use the way I did on my roof so don't do that but the point is I'm very impressed with how they have held up.

Great for shower Curtains
I got frustrated with my shower hooks coming off or my curtain not staying on and I could not find a decent set of shower hooks that would stay on.So I bought these aluminum locking camping d-rings. they were 10 dollars for 9- I got 2 sets. Unlike curtains, these lock. They are aluminum, so they do not rust. They are not expensive (a bit more) compared to curtain hooks. If you are going to try this, make sure your bar can fit through them. I had to remove the bar from the wall, slide them on, and finagle the curtain on. It was worth the trouble. I hate curtain hooks, and these solved all the problems they cause.Depending on your needs, you may want to sand down the d-rings if they don't fit. Mine did exactly, and I loved that they stay in place instead of sliding across the bar constantlyWhen the curtain goes bad, I will just throw it out (It's only less than 10 dollars and you need one like once every 2 years), get a new one, and reuse these hooks

Suspicious of 150lb tensile strength claim
The product's description mentions at least 3 times that these will bear 150 lbs, but it's bizarre that the packaging lists all kinds of info, and the various specs, but NEVER mentions a weight capacity. That's a big red flag to me. We checked and rechecked the packaging... and remain baffled that it's only here on the item page is the weight claim made. I won't need these carabiners to withstand much weight - it's the screw lock that's important - but we're considering testing the 150lb claim (and will update if so) because of the lapse in clarity.
