Understand The Weather: Teach Yourself

Structure of book really makes it all make sense, with clear explanations too
I have several excellent older books about the weather for interested general public readers. This book is so easy to read and understand and the structure of the book makes absolutely sure that everything is in context and connected within the whole too. It has enabled me to go back to the other books and read them with renewed insight! It is always a great joy when someone with specialist knowledge also has the skill and sensitivity to pass it on to others in such an exciting, accessible and interesting way.

The weather explained in easy to understand text
I have a lot of books on weather and meteorology and it's nice to see a more recent title written in easy to understand chapters. I think anyone reading this book would probably finish it and want to look up more on the subject. It seems that sort of book. The weather can be a complicated science but this explains the basics in layman's terms. Recommended for an introduction on the subject.

Well presented book on the topic. Bought to complement a course I was doing on line. Book refers to a number of colour plates which can be downloaded from the web, however, I have so far failed to find them, and have made enquiries with the Teach Yourself book publisher. No reply so far. Otherwise it would have been 5 star.

It says Understanding the weather and by the end of it you do.
A very, very simple description of a very complex subject. It is one of those times when you know the person describing the subjects knows it so well they make it seem easy. It is so understandable. I had no prior knowledge at all but by the end of it, I could understand the weather programme on television. I would recommend this book, even for quite young people who are interested in this sort of thing. The diagrams are easy to see most of the time even on Kindle because they are basic line drawings.

Good book
A very interesting book I really liked the way it sheds light on the so-called global warming debate, as it talks about the Urban Heat Island Effect and how temperatures in built up ares can be 5 degrees or more warmer than the countryside. Interesting stuff, especially when the temp. monitor stations are largely clustered in urban areas, or areas of high population density. Food for thought!

The weather
Not finished reading it yet. So far its very interesting but I think you need to have a bit of an understanding of how all the things interact before reading as it is quite a complex system. Recommended though.

Four Stars
An interesting well written book but it's a complicated subject and one needs to digest it slowly.
