Excellent recipes for a small household
This has quickly become a favorite cookbook. By way of example, my other favorite cookbook is ATK's Cooking for Two. I have looked for a good Mediterranean Cookbook for a small household (I live alone) and this has been the only one that I can say I have really enjoyed and used. Some people have complaints about the lack of pictures, but I do not find that to be a problem. I'm glad I found this one.

Great recipes
These recipes are so simple. Easy to use whole ingredients. You won’t stock your pantry with unnecessary items that you are only going to use once. I love that. Great introduction at the beginning of the principles of the Mediterranean diet.

Good intro to Mediterranean flavors... but
I've tried two recipes so far, have a third planned and many more marked for the future. What I like is the emphasis on vegetables, cooking with olive oil, and the yummy flavors of tomato, olive and lots of herbs. Very flavorful! Love the Simple Sides chapter! Serving sizes are generous especially for soup. Two people can't eat a whole pot of it! What I don't like is as others have said, there are just a couple of pictures. What else I don't like is the frequend need of a food processor. Sorry, don't have one. I also don't like the uncommon ingredients that are rarely explained. There needs to be a separate chapter on the mystery items. I don't want to have to research items when I shop for a recipe. What is Halloumi cheese? Harissa paste? Za'atar seasoning? Pappardelle and orecchiette pasta? Piquillo pepper? Well at least farro and chermoula sauce were explained! In addition, a WARNING to those watching cholesterol: While there are recipes with moderate, low or no cholesterol, there are also many that are close to or over 100mg per serving. That's half or more of your recommended daily amount if you are watching your intake!

You had me at Mug Cake
Ok, for starters, I like beans. Doing without beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, even pork is no big deal. I rarely eat out and I eat alone. All that info is just so you know where I started at with this cookbook. Way too few fish and seafood recipes. I would have liked to see more on tinned fish. Also more on beans such as flavoring without a soup bone. The meals that are meat-centric are nice, just not an every day thing. If you do prefer meat daily, this cookbook offers some strong technique and ingredient tips to take your meals for two past sad steaks and chicken breasts. Now what did I like, a lot? Excellent background info. Good nutrition details. I learned that Branzino is mostly a framed fish. How to shop smart for small quantities of the freshest vegetables. How nice it is to enjoy fresh fruit and a little cheese instead of a fat- or sugar-laden dessert. Finally for those once or twice a month special treats, that Orange Olive Oil Mug Cake is a single diners' dream.

I wish every recipe book were written like this
Anne Danahy's straightforward, simple instructions make this one of the most approachable recipe books I've ever used. If you're someone who finds yourself checking and re-checking recipes as you, unable to remember if it was 3 teaspoons or tablespoons, this is for you. There's something about the very simple format and language that makes it incredibly easy to find what you need, even when you're simultaneously sautéing onions or flipping a piece of fish. The recipes are great, too. The sheet pan pesto chicken and potatoes is such a beloved dish in our home that the book now opens to that page on its own. I'm also a massive fan of the pan-roasted cod with olives, tomatoes, and artichoke — it's one that you can cook almost entirely from canned goods, which means you can stock up in advance and be ready to go with the addition of fresh fish.A great little book for any kitchen, Mediterranean or not.

Lovely Ideas for meals
I'm working my way through this excellent recipe book and so far, every recipe has worked perfectly and will become staple 'go-to' meals. No longer cooking for a huge family, I appreciate being able to cook interesting meals for two, and these are great. The author is a registered dietitian, but to think of this as a diet book of any kind would be to misinterpret it. It's simply a way of eating, using flavourful foods and 'good' fats, Mediterranean style.

Everything is delicious
I use this book several times a week to make weekday meals. Everything I've made from it has tasted delicious and is quick and easy to make. It uses ingredients that I almost always have on hand and the recipes are easy and fast. I'm not following it as a "diet," and haven't lost any weight but it has improved our nutrition and increased how often we eat vegetarian meals.
