This product is advertised as working as a safelight but after following the Kodak instructions to test a safelight it fogs photographic paper even at the 1 minute mark. This is at a distance of about 10 feet away from the paper. Because I wanted my money back I did not open the bulb but I suspect it’s a simple white LED behind a thin flimsy red plastic. Without the proper equipment it’s impossible to tell but the bulb seems to give off very faint light other than red light which will cause fogging. It is also incredibly bright, I’d be able to read a book under it from about 4 feet away.

Not much to say, it’s exactly as advertised

I tested this light by holding a peice of photo paper about 6 inches from it for 10 seconds. At that range, it definitely exposted the paper. However, I tested again at a distance of about 2.5 feet, and no exposure was evident after 2 minutes. So as long as you don't keep this light right next to your paper, or leave your paper out with it on, I think it's fine. To the people complaining that it ruined your film: Film is NOT developed under a safelight. There is NO safelight for film. Film is developed in complete darkness. Safelights are ONLY for developing paper.

I have a fairly small room in my basement I use as a dark room since it's away from any windows and does not have any windows itself. With the door closed it's completely black. This light works nice for the dark room but it doesn't light the room up enough to really see that well If I bought accouple of them it might be fine. I would have rather bought a normal bulb size that is safe for dark room use. Works though for small rooms
