Why it wont let me put air in my car tire?

I'm guessing the problem is operator error, did you screw it onto the valve stem like it was a valve cap? I have the smaller 1000/500 version and I've filled up 4-35" BFG M/T from an "air down" (for offroad) pressure of 20 PSI to 35 PSI on several occasions. The air compressor hose has a built in adapter. No attachment is needed to fill vehicle tires.

would it start up a dead car battery?

It’s supposed to if you leave it charge for a minute. I personally haven’t use mine yet I have a new battery in my car.
